Why I Left the C3V

Why I Left the C3V

It is with great sadness and a touch of bitterness that I stepped down from my position in the C3V earlier today. I joined the C3V on its Editing team a little over 5 years agoless than a month after its inception. I wasnt the first Editor chosen (that honor belongs to Agent Minivann), but I think I could make an argument for being the second; certainly Im the only current Editor who has been on that team since the beginning.

For much of that time Ive been very pleased with what we were able to accomplish, and Im still happy with some aspects of the project, and several of its members. But the parts that I enjoy have been steadily decreasing throughout the years, and lately Ive come to dread having to post on C3V issues, and thats not how one should feel about anything that has to do with ones favorite game. I still want to think of Heroscape as a fun hobby that I share with my children and friends. So I feel like I have to

A blog post theme I'm considering...

So I've frequently pondered on the purpose of a blog and how to use one in expressing myself. In particular, having access to an exclusive Heroscape blog page makes me want to focus this area on Heroscape information.

So what thought could I share to people about a game that only lives through its fanbase, that specifically breathes the word myself into it?

Namely, what could stay alive for some time that will allow me to update it?

The idea came to me when I was adding categories to pages in the much disheveled HeroScape wiki page.

I looked and saw that much of the personality entries were written by a previous editor and was currently using a descriptive sentence that could/could not be argued to be a bias understanding of what that personality means.

And as I sat there, adding more categories and seeing more and more of these sentences, I thought:

So hello everyone,
Well, life has been very busy for me lately. School has kept me very busy (after I messed up last semester, and with it being my first semester if I don't do good this semester I am in danger of flunking out). So that's a lot of stress, I need to work on. I've been trying to deal with myself psychologically (depression and some anxiety), emotionally and such by getting involved with a campus group and helping out there, the socializing helps but I wonder how long these friendships will last, just like I wonder about my parents. They say they want me to my best, but they won't be upset if I flunk school. And I can live at my grandparents for a bit when my family moves up to Tennessee, so that's not as much of a worry. I am trying to work on monetization through various projects (my videogame, working on a blog where I talk about various strategy games and other competitive stuff, saving up for starting streaming (but with me wrecking my car a few weeks ago,...

Unit Strategy Review
Unit: Goblin Cutters

The Goblin Cutters live up to their name by being fast, fragile, and annoying as all get out to kill all of them. However, using the cutters is not immediately intuitive, and they require some finesse to squeeze every last ounce out of them. So today, we will be looking at the short little buggers. First, we will look at their stats.

Analyzed Statistics:
Size Small (Concealable/Vulnerable)
Life 1 (Squad)
Move 6 (Fast)
Range 1 (Melee)
Attack 2 (Poor*)
Defense 1 (Frail)
*Mob Attack: A figure engaged with 3 or more Cutters subtracts 2 from its defense when attacked by a Cutter. (Tactical Advantage: High)
*Scurry: If a Cutter dies to a normal attack, you may move 2 Cutters (and take no leaving engagement attacks)

Hello 'scapers,

It's been a grand while since I last posted on these pages. Various reasons kept me away for some time. And, by a feat of grand design, I find myself back.

And now I support the site.

Why on earth after so long would I just randomly do that?

Perhaps it's just that. Random. Straight out of the blue.

But given that most characters I play are not chaotic, I figure I'd have a reason behind my decision.

I long to begin a career as an individual writing for all to see worlds of intricate craft and powerful symbolism. I want to write stories that cause introspection as well as admiration. Fantasy, more than just an outlet for me, is my voice to the world. The thing I wish to use to - in the words of a very wise man - be the change I wish to see.

And Heroscape was the door to that dream.

It inspired in me so much creativity, opened a concept I had hardly considered...
