Buffer Masha vs. Mohicans

I wanted to test out Masha's buffs from the other end, so I asked Leo to take him for a spin. Did I have ulterior motives in wanting to play something other than Samurai for once? Probably.

Spoiler Alert!

The game was called the round after Masha died (about four or five into the game) to save on time. The following units were left:
8x TSA
~175 Points Left for the Samurai

5x MRT, Brave Arrow (2 wounds), Venoc Warlord
~260 Points Left for the Native Americans

There was a noticeable slowness to the entire Samurai army the first round (Leo spent two Order Markers on positioning his cheerleaders, after all), which gave my 7-move Mohicans ample time to whiff their attacks.

After the MRT spent some more time failing to wound Raelin from height, the TSA began to retaliate. Leo kept Masha and Raelin at the edge of each other's auras for the most part, creating a large blanket that left Raelin as my primary target. He eventually broke formation, though, to move Masha in for a kill against a MRT. This proved to be fatal, as it gave me an opening to divert my attacks to him from melee and finish him off with Brave Arrow.

Once Masha fell, it was mostly a matter of taking down Raelin. We played for one more round (during which she did fall), but playtesting time is tight so we called it there. Sue me.

Terror of the Honorless subtracted one attack from a Mohican, who still managed to inflict a wound on Masha anyway.

Masha managed to kill one Mohican with his normal attack.

Fiery Retribution never activated, but there were several times where I intentionally changed my focus to Raelin instead of the TSA within his range. It diverted attention well.

This was a strong showing for the Samurai overall, but a good deal of that honestly comes from Raelin. Masha may have whiffed on defense twice, but he was always a secondary concern while on the field. I was happy when Leo took turns with him, because he would at most kill 1 Mohican and it bought me time to keep developing my army.

Staying outside of Terror of the Honorless was pretty easy as a ranged squad. Fiery Retribution helped a lot, though, especially with the two space range freeing up his positioning options.

He still brings far less to the Samurai competitively than Raelin does. It's a neat combo with the TSA, but hardly an un-winnable one.
