FFC #38 - Another One Bites the Dust

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #38

My last update listed some of the biggest and most pressing problems I have with my writing. There are of course plenty more problems, all of which are preventing me from writing the novels I would like to. I have compiled these problems into a 'checklist' so that I can keep track of them, and cross them off as I deal with them. That will give both me and you a good gauge of what I need to do before I can start my novels. It should also serve to keep me on track.

If you have any suggestions for that list, please let me know. A story's worst critic is its author.

Onto Eternity. I have, once again, changed the story. The problem I had with the last few iterations was that I never liked the direction the story took. It didn't set up any sequels, and it didn't really show the war on Valhalla the way I envisioned it. The newest iteration shows the war better, and definitely has some potential for sequels...

FFC #37 - Mid-Career Crisis???

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #37

Short story: End Come will, short of a miracle, not be released by Halloween.

Long Story: It seems like every now and then, I'll come on here and post one of these blogs, proclaiming triumphantly that I have found 'what I've been missing', or I've 'solved all of my writing problems.' If that were really the case, I would have solved all of my problems enough times to put me at the top of the NYT bestseller list for a year. And yet I still find myself scratching my head over simple things I can't seem to grasp, and marveling at basic story structures which I know I would never be able to create.

So... yes, something is definitely still missing. I'm determined to figure out why I keep having these problems with my writing, and I don't want to begin Eternity until I know how to fix them.

What are these problems? All I have are symptoms, which have been around for years, slowly building...

Why is Heroscapers.com important?

Posted October 18th, 2019 at 02:57 PM by TGRF
Some of you might have heard of Stackexchange.com, the community of 175 Q&A websites devoted to different topics. Users submit questions, other users answer, people upvote helpful answers, and knowledge is spread.

I've been a member of writing.stackexchange for a bit over 5 years, and of worldbuilding.stackexchange for a few months less. They've both helped me gain a lot of information and knowledge I otherwise wouldn't have had, as well as given me the opportunity to spread what I've learned.

Stack Exchange
I've always respected the stackexchange community for being open-minded. It's kind of a given: on a Q&A website you have to be receptive. You quickly learn that everyone has different opinions and different ways of looking at things. If you don't honor that fact of life, you are quickly forgotten. At the same time, it's important to hold to your own opinions, because the variety is what makes stackexchange work. For every question there...

FFC #36 - The Cover for End Come

Posted October 8th, 2019 at 11:20 AM by TGRF
TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #36

The first installment in my infinite series (Eternity) is currently being written. I'm aiming for a Halloween release, but there are a few things happening this month which will suck my time away, so it might be a bit after Halloween. We'll see.

This first installment, End Come, is looking to be quite short. I've already talked about what I'm working on for it in terms of writing here, so I won't go into that again.

As far as the writing schedule goes, I'm planning on finishing up the writing within the next few days, and then sending it to Bigga. Proofreading usually takes a few days. After that, depending on what Bigga says, I might want to rewrite it. It's going to be short enough that I can. If that happens, it might get released after Halloween. If not, then before.

I'll keep you...
