Heroscape thanks...

Even though a new release is improbable in time for the Christmas holiday and it's unlikely that I'm going to find two boxes of elves and soulborgs at my local department store, I'm still pretty grateful for what I know this holiday season will probably involve:

1. Good food
2. Catching up with my family
3. Gaming with my buds (Heroscape, RIFTS, and maybe StarWars RPG)

My mom makes the most amazing stuffing, I'm bringing green bean casserole and banana pudding (step-dad's fav)

We have an annual tradition where my grandma bakes a delicious pie and then tells us how bad it is (feigning a compliment) whereby my sister usually says, "grandma, you've done it again... you've ruined (Insert Holiday).

Then it's on to catching up... so how's your job? Good. Busy... no time to breathe. Love being home so I don't have to think about it. How's school? Ugh... don't remind me. I have a paper due before Christmas and I only have 20 pages of it done.

Now we get to the good part. Mick and Ozzie should be in town so we'll probably play a game of cut throat heroscape... try out a new who's going to kill who first scenario. I want to try the Marcu/Orc Flagbarer combo out on them. I'm also anxious to pull out my zombie horde (I have 10 units) and swarm them.

I'm running a RIFTS campaign... for those of you not familiar, RIFTS is a post-apocalypse world full of rifted beings from other worlds, dimensions, etc... kind of like Heroscape. Anyway, my campaign incorporates a group of characters setting up a hidden community in the Yukon territory of Canada around Whitehorse/Ibex Mountain region. Mick plays a Jedi plucked from the old republic. Ozzie plays a teleporter shunned from the army because of his rare talents.

The game has come together nicely. So far there have been strange happenings due to an octopus cult (Lovecraft stuff), a discovery of an underground prison facility 20 miles west, and a xititix problem (similar to the marro only more insect).

I have plenty of NPCs who flesh out the group and have based some of them on characters from books and movies. The most notable is Abner Ravenwood (Indiana Jones) and Asif (Ley-Line Wizard).

Finally, Mick is umpiring a Star Wars campaign. My Jedi has gone rogue. I'm interested in seeing if Ozzie's will be able to return me to the light side. Probably not... I've always leaned a little dark. Probably due to my Catholic upbringing j/k. The story is solid, basically my Jedi is pissed because my master was killed and no one from the council feels there needs to be anything done about it. Ozzie plays a younger Jedi who looks up to me... he's in for a surprise I think. Just so you know, there is a possibility he can sway me back to the light. Before going rogue, my Jedi was very Jorus pre-attitude. If you don't know what that means, let's just say I am idealistic and sought purity in the force. Now, I'm the kind of Jedi that gets things done... even if it is a little gray. We'll have to see how it all turns out in that galaxy far far away.

Happy holidays and relative peace be with you.

Thanks for reminding us all of what the holidays are truly about, and what it means to be thankful.
