Heroscape afterlife strategy

Posted November 6th, 2010 at 03:20 PM by NamibianScaper
The 'death of Heroscape?' announcement is obviously depressing.

This is my strategy which takes into account bank expenses, state of the game, reprints, family, etc.

1. Get my stuff out of hock in Namibia. I can't actually control when this happens but eventually I think I'll get back there and be able to bring it back. Have no idea when. Until then, I am pretty much in 'Scape 'purgatory'.

2. Right now: Quickly buyup any figures I need that are still inexpensive, and actively track prices on the expensive pieces I still need: 3x Armoc Vipers, Marro Drones, MacDirks, & Aubrien Archers, 2x RttFF, 1x Knights of Weston?, Heavy Gruts?, Gladiatrons, Agent Skahen!, & MacDirk. (I can't remember if I had 2 or 3 sets Heavy Gruts and KoW bought but unreleased.)

2. Pretend D&D never existed. This is because of a) cost, b) frustration about undeveloped themes, c) some of the figures don't really seem to fit. I was looking forward to getting more D&D (I only have 2 figure packs) and just playing D&D scape until we got our stuff out of Namibia, but I can't do #1 because of "a", and can't deal with b & c if no more D&D scape is coming out after D3. I plan on only including one D&D figure in our family's 'Scape and that's the dwarf hero because that theme would just be cooler with him added, even if he looks funky. I hope the Community buys every last piece of D&D 'Scape out so the suits (? whether they act like it or actually wear them, same difference) know how much they could have made.
There are some circumstances in which I could stop pretending and get some D&D but that seems far in the future as of now.

3. Pray for another better company to buy Heroscape out, as is discussed here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/...up-heroscapers

4. Design the 9th Elf Wizard myself if I have to.

I realize you wrote this a LONG time ago... but my family and I were in the same situation. We were living in Bosnia Herzegovina and had to leave 80% of our collection there while we came back to the US on furlough. Sadly, we ended up not returning. I had to make the journey back to Bosnia to retrieve our collection. Thankfully, it's all with us here now. Phew!
