’Scaper of the Month
The Grim Reaper’s Friend
Author: Fi Skirata

Profile:

Who are you really?
Stephen King.

Okay, not really. I’m Thomas Myron, known as Tommy locally.

How old are you?
Twenty-two and counting. Obviously counting. It’s not like I’ve discovered the secret to immortality or anything.

What is your occupation?
My occupation? I have several, each as unofficial as the last. Coming from a family that is self-employed, I’ve always thought out of the box where jobs are concerned. My deepest dread is that I will end up in an unchanging 9–5 job with the rest of the world.

In my pursuit against that dreaded outcome, I work out of my home, helping with my parents’ online businesses in a variety of ways.

I am also interested in writing, and have

Heroscape Traveller - Raid on the New Hindenburg!

Well met!

The latest map . . .

Raid on the New Hindenburg!

The Ballroom of the New Hindenburg

The Start Zones are the sky spaces outside the Ballroom, at each end of the map.

The Map. The New Hindenburg is a futuristic sky liner [an ocean liner in the sky, duh!]. The map represents the interior at the lowest level (bottom) of the ship (the "Ballroom). The battlements delineate the (impenetrable) boundaries of the interior. The Sky Spaces inside represent a transparent floor. Tossing of units into space is thus not possible in this scenario. Units may only enter through the single space entries at opposite ends of the map. Start Zones are the Sky Spaces outside the Ballroom. Players may not enter or attack units in the opposing Start Zone.

Giant Battle For Japan

Posted November 15th, 2016 at 09:34 AM by Sylvano the Wasabus
We have just had the biggest point battle of our lives.

The battle was the culmination of one of our big games. The world was drawn on paper and divided into squares. Each square is a battlefield. The map was large with an ocean in the middle. The ocean was filled with islands, both large and small. This last battle took place on an island called Japan.

the push pins represent outposts and armies and you can see the pile at the Isle of Japan

The samurai had been a faction in the game, one of the ten playing, but they were eliminated early on. There was really two things happening in this game- the islands fought amongst themselves and the shore factions fought each other. Japan was the samurai capital, but it was overrun by an alliance of small factions- lizard men, orcs, elves and gnolls. Truly a horrible army of icky stinky things....

Heroscape Traveller - The Final Map?

Well met!

Hopefully, this is it . . .

After the last flurry of modifications to Schloss Wolken, I still came away worried that the places where units entered the map were too exposed.
lefton4ya suggested, "[h]ow about with battlements, but no evergreens. Seriously, trees in the sky (unless like avatar) don't look right, and battlements make sense as walls to prevent falls." I took out (yet again) my table, and the terrain I'd packed, eschewed the Evergreens (saving a ton of space), added two Small Ruins, 2 7-hex Wall Walks, more Battlements, and rebuilt with Start Zones.

The Battle for Skybridge

Start Zones are the 15 hexes on the lower left and upper right corners (behind Small Ruins).

Where Rules Don’t Bend
Author: Scytale

Heroscape has a wonderfully simplistic ruleset, making it very easy to describe and understand. It is also a fairly robust system that allows for many kinds of special abilities that break those rules without making the whole system collapse. But that same simplicity can be a detriment—or at least a trap—making excited custom creators believe that literally anything is possible. The reality is that there are things the system really cannot handle, and many more that it cannot handle well.

This article is focused on traditional Heroscape and includes C3V and SoV. Other branches of Heroscape, including C3G and HoSS, have developed their own rulesets for abilities that stretch the normal rules in different ways. And, of course, your own personal customs are subject only to the rules you make for them. However,
