PROFILE

Who are you really?

Demetrius Fuqua.

How old are you?

56.

What is your occupation?

Montgomery County Program Specialist.

What’s the story behind your username?

We were heading to our first official tournament. I tried to come up with a cool username but wasn’t successful. Upon check-in, my son told the tournament director “Hi. My name is Julian.” When he asked me my name, I said proudly “I am father of Julian!” The funny thing is Julian has changed his Scaper name twice since then. But I’ll always be known as Father Of Julian (FOJ).

What are other games you enjoy and why?

Dungeons & Dragons, chess, backgammon, Monopoly, and Madden. I enjoy these games because they bring out my competitive nature.

What other interests do you have?

Playing cornhole, 3D printing, crafting, shopping and traveling.

HEROSCAPE

When and how did you get into Heroscape?

Thirteen years ago, my mother-in-law found a master set at Goodwill for $3.99. She thought my then seven-year-old son Julian would love to play with the miniature figures. My wife looked at the box and decided it might be worth learning how to play the game instead. It reminded her of the Heroquest game we used to play in the early 90s. We built a board and spent the weekend teaching ourselves and Julian how to play. It didn’t take long for use to become hooked. We went out the following week and bought 4 master sets on clearance at our local Walmart. Needless to say we’ve been hooked ever since.

Favorite unit (official/custom):

Cyprien Esenwein / the Varja.

Describe your favorite HeroScape moment.

My favorite Heroscape moment is when my son Julian won his first HeroScape tournament at the ripe old age of 12.

Is there anything you would change about the game (unit, rule, mechanic, etc.)?

There is nothing I would change about the actual game. I would love for Heroscape to be back into mass production.

What is your favorite aspect of HeroScape?

Creating armies.
