Why is Heroscapers.com important?

Posted October 18th, 2019 at 02:57 PM by TGRF
Some of you might have heard of Stackexchange.com, the community of 175 Q&A websites devoted to different topics. Users submit questions, other users answer, people upvote helpful answers, and knowledge is spread.

I've been a member of writing.stackexchange for a bit over 5 years, and of worldbuilding.stackexchange for a few months less. They've both helped me gain a lot of information and knowledge I otherwise wouldn't have had, as well as given me the opportunity to spread what I've learned.

Stack Exchange
I've always respected the stackexchange community for being open-minded. It's kind of a given: on a Q&A website you have to be receptive. You quickly learn that everyone has different opinions and different ways of looking at things. If you don't honor that fact of life, you are quickly forgotten. At the same time, it's important to hold to your own opinions, because the variety is what makes stackexchange work. For every question there...

Parallax Design 2.0: Part 1
Author: superfrog
(with contributions from johnny139, Lazy_Orang, and Scytale)

Welcome to another edition of “Parallax Design”! In this article series, we get several designers to come up with their take on a design using a given miniature (or in this case, miniatures).

This time around, we’ve got johnny139, Lazy_Orang, Scytale, and superfrog on board to design two cards for these Starfinder miniatures:

FFC #36 - The Cover for End Come

Posted October 8th, 2019 at 11:20 AM by TGRF
TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #36

The first installment in my infinite series (Eternity) is currently being written. I'm aiming for a Halloween release, but there are a few things happening this month which will suck my time away, so it might be a bit after Halloween. We'll see.

This first installment, End Come, is looking to be quite short. I've already talked about what I'm working on for it in terms of writing here, so I won't go into that again.

As far as the writing schedule goes, I'm planning on finishing up the writing within the next few days, and then sending it to Bigga. Proofreading usually takes a few days. After that, depending on what Bigga says, I might want to rewrite it. It's going to be short enough that I can. If that happens, it might get released after Halloween. If not, then before.

I'll keep you...

ARV Maps - October 2019

Map Selection
Perspectives from Tournament Directors
Author: Flash_19

Between GenCon and National Heroscape Day, fall seems to be the best time of year to battle for the fate of Valhalla! This month’s article is meant to complement and build on our previous article—an interview with the GenCon map selector, OrcElfArmyOne—as we reached out to a handful of tournament directors preparing events for National Heroscape Day (or events being held soon). We wanted to learn more about their process for determining maps used in the events they host, and to see what insights they had to offer about the types of maps they prefer to use.

We at the ARV hope these two articles give you some new insights about maps used in the competitive Heroscape scene. While this article will not extensively quote the tournament directors that we interviewed,

Autumn Custom Competition – Chops Entrée

Posted October 6th, 2019 at 03:36 AM by truth
Autumn Custom Competition!

Do you smell that? Hmm ... What is that, basil? Sweet dill? Toasted pistachio powder? Feylundian fig? Woowee, I don't know what they're cooking in the Chops Kitchen but I know one thing for sure: it's gonna be scrumptious. This round contestants are making a big, heavy-hitting entrée, and you get to be a part of it, just like all those happy little Nagrubs ...

*

If you can take the heat, head to the Chops Kitchen before October 21 and check out what "basket ingredients" are guiding the flavor profiles of this batch of customs.

*No HeroScape was harmed in the making of this photo, although we have a track record of two figures being harmed in the creation of each of our wonderful prizes
**Also, there are no prizes
