Week @ Heroscapers, October 27

Image of the Week

This week's hilarious image is from shadow scaper Deadmaxx. For those of you who wanted to raise your own Hivelord, here's your chance!

Thread of the Week

This week's thread is by MKSentinal. Entitled YoYo in Heroscape? the title to it is interesting enough. However, it gives a great new way to use Emirroon and a Ranged Elf Wizard as...well, as a YoYo. A lot of positive comments and great discussion have come out of this, not to mention a great new strategy.

Special Mention

Many of you may be familiar with the forum game The Curse of Ne-Gok-Sa. Recently, the game came upon the second anniversary of its conception by LordRaidor. In honor of two years of roleplaying awesomeness, LordRaidor has put together two very special games, both of a new "Masquerade" variant. Some of the most experienced CoNners have signed up for a great time, but there's a catch: no one knows who anyone else is! That's right, each player uses a special account to sign is as their character in complete anonymity. You can find the Mirror Mansion here, and the Cave of Corruption here. Not playing? You can post about the game here, in the Non-Gaming Viewer and OOC Thread. There's a basic game going as well. In all games, however, each player is in their top form, and no one knows what will come next!

To Heroscapers, Valhalla is three things.
1) The place where their favorite game takes place.
2) The afterlife in Viking mythology.
3) A room in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts.

Wait, you've never heard of the last one? Well, look here, in the thread "Report from Valhalla - Inside "The HeroScape Room"" where none other than Erik Arneson posted photos he'd taken from this room where Heroscape is made. You can see a lot of pre-production pieces and concept art, along with re-paints by the designers themselves. Evil Raelin, anyone?

Blog of the Week

Careful warrior, you never know the secrets of Ticalla Jungle. Don't think you know What Lurks in the Bushes. Scenarios are often neglected on 'scapers. Most players play kill them all games. The SWG can't get scenarios out fast enough, so it's up to others to supply them. Nadi has come up with an interesting way to use spiders. It also helps balance out the power of jungle. It's worthy enough to make my game table, that's for sure!

Non-HS Gaming Review

Hello once again scapers! This week we will be featuring a game that has been recently played by myself, and feverishly wanting more of: Ticket to Ride. The theme is simple, you are building rail line routes across the US! The winner is the one with the most points at the end; you can score points by taking routes or completing a destination ticket which shows two cities. If you connect these two cities before the end of the game you gain that many points, if not then you lose that many points. On your turn you can do one of three things.
-Get a combination of 2 train tickets from the 5 shown to everyone, or the deck. If a face up wild is taken it counts as two cards.
-Take 3 new destination tickets. You can discard up to two of them, or keep them all if you wish.
-Claim a route by playing train cards, and placing your trains on the tracks.

The game ends when a player runs low on train cars or all routes are taken. At the end points are tallied and a winner is declared! Game play is fast and simple. So if you are looking for a nice fun board game to play with friends and family check out Ticket to Ride.

Scapers of the Week

Week 7 and Week 8 of Hex_Enduction_Hour's Scaper of the Week feature focused on two Northeastern Scapers, Pilgrim and nyys. Both of these scapers have been instrumental for the tournament scene in the Northeast, like organizing the Beantown Beatdowns. Stay tuned for next week where the focus on the Northeast continues with Onacara.

Herscapers should really try to get more people onto there site, it is massive, but maby you could go to Hasbro and give a link to your site, not for advertising for your site, but so they can have heroscape etusactics become ethusiastic about new sets and want to by more stuff, a win win situation !
