Playing the new figures.

Posted June 14th, 2008 at 12:47 PM by Majai of Dreams
Last night I created a mid sized board to accommodate up to 6 people that featured 4 sets worth or jungle terrain.

We did 2 teams of 2 people that were paired up at random, after we drafted. I feel that way of playing adds a level of surprise since you will not know who your partner is, and what you will have to face.

The goal was to create a 1000 point army that had a sizeable number of the new figures picked.

The match went well on all parts. I thought I would examine all the new figures individually as I saw their strengths and weaknesses.

The match began with me winning the initiative. I had an entirely elf army with all elven wizards with some warriors of Ashra plus sonlen and theracus to fill it in.
I was impressed with all of the elves.

Ulginesh and his mind melding was amazing. The ability to use 75% of my army as I chose was extremely effective. I was able to use Moorsbane to relieve Zelrig of the burden...

Mutant Chronicles CMG - A Review

Posted June 14th, 2008 at 01:27 AM by ninthdoc
My review of the Mutant Chronicles Collectable Miniatures Game could be summed up by saying this: I really want to like this game, but Fantasy Flight seems to be making this really difficult for me. I had an opportunity to play this game and please believe me when I say that I wanted to like this game; I really did. Unfortunately, after pining over it for two years, I was literally heartbroken that it just didn’t do it for me.

This might not be entirely fair, since FFG does not know me intimately. They don’t know that I prefer true miniature games as opposed to turn-based strategy games. They don’t know that I’m an obsessed completist. They don’t know that I’m willing to sink an ungodly sum of money into a game so long as I feel that I’m getting my money’s worth. They don’t appear to know that they’ve produced some really awesome figures that I would love to incorporate into my other games (funny, but Heroscape comes to mind…). My question go FFG is simple: Shouldn’t...

Hey all. Upon a reccomendation from my friend, I headed over to threadless.com. The moment my computer logged on, I was in heaven. It's a T-Shirt site with an ongoing open call for community T-Shirt designs. The T-Shirts there are some of the best I have seen on the web. Plus, if you go there through the link at the bottom of the blog and buy something, I get money toward my next shirt. So head over there. You won't regret it.

Wave 8/Wave 8.5

Posted June 13th, 2008 at 02:43 PM by Aquaryan

There are some characters in the Heroscape-verse that I do not particularly careful. Sujoah has to be one of them. I think most of us have our favorites and dislikes.

I arrived at the mall at 9am.

I ventured to the Post Office to pick up my order from A&E: The Paranomal State DVD.

I arrive at the gaming store at 9:05am.

Does not open until 9:30am.

I had 25 minutes to wait.

Finally, the store opened.

I picked up what I could afford today:
  • Marro Calvary
  • Soldier and Wolves
  • Heroes of the Molten Sea
  • Defenders of Kinsland
Only if I had today off from work...

New Stuff and Re-Releases

Posted June 13th, 2008 at 11:26 AM by NamibianScaper
Wow, I'm happy about all the new stuff. The new site design looks great.

In addition to that, with the great popularity Heroscape seems to have, I am hopeful for the re-release of the older waves. Heroes of Bleakwoode and Barrenspur are at the top of my list of units to get that I've never even seen (in person) before.
