Gulp's Comedy Blog

Get ready for some self-indulgence! Prepare to validate my existence!

As soon of you may know, I'm a stand-up comedian. I've been doing it professionally for over 10 years now. I also recently began a part-time job working as booking agent for a comedy booking agency. Of course, being an agent means that my allegiance is to Vydar.

My favorite part about being in the comedy biz is that most of my time is spent hanging out with pretty hilarious people (like Onion Knight--another Scaper comic).

Being a comic means that I've got my ear to the ground as far as up and coming talented acts. As Jerry Seinfeld once said, "The funniest comics in America are people you've never heard of." I've decided to dust of my blog and present to my fellow Scapers a selection of very funny comics that most people have never heard of. I hope you enjoy.

I may occasionally have a few comics that fit a theme, and other times I may just want to share someone that I think is funny.

DISCLAIMER: I don't plan on posting anything too sexually vulgar. However, as in any comedy club setting, don't be too shocked if some "adult" language or subject matter creeps in. If there's a lot of language, then I'll put a disclaimer.

Let's begin:

NICK VATTEROTT
Nick is one of most creative comics I've seen. Nick has ton of improv and sketch comedy experience to back up his stand-up. I'm glad to see that his recent DVD "(Shoulder Shrug) It's a Living" shows that he has really carved out a unique style of stand-up for himself.

WATCH Nick Vatterott.

"Why am I always being kept down by the mandarin?"
"Only YOU can prevent sleet!"

But my favorite so far has to be
"Hey Nick, what time is it?"
"Uh...that's it. That's all the time."

You need to put Gabriel Iglaceias (that's a guess on the spelling) on here.

"Oh my god he's speaking Spanish!"

Gabriel Iglesias is funny, I agree. However, I'm going to be using this blog to share comics that are lesser known. There's an attitude that some people have where if they haven't heard of a comic then they assume that the comic just hasn't reached his funny potential.

Comics who spend most of their evenings hanging out in comedy clubs will tell you that the funniest comics in the country are people you've never heard of.

Just trying to give people a glimpse into that secret comedy treasure trove. In fact I think I might call my blog that.

MOAR DAYN COOK AND CARLOS MENSEEA plzkthxbye.

I agree that Gabriel Iglesias is funny though. But if they've had a Comedy Central 30 minute slot, they're probably not going to make it to this blog. That first guy was pretty funny- Nick V.

So was that Adam White dude, and his time machine.

On a bizarre side tangent, is Onion Knight related to Craig Van Ness? They look like brothers, or cousins. Or something.

I hope Josh Blue makes the blog Gulp. (hint hint)

I really think he is funny and I genuinely feel bad for the guy....

Speaking of funny....I dare anyone who has ever heard Neil Young to not laugh at this

This blog is going to be great, Gulp. It will expand appreciation for the art form.

Jexik, Craig Van Ness and I are not related, but we are dating. It's exciting but I don't want to jinx it so keep your fingers crossed for us...
