C3G Interview - LordVenoc & MrNobody

C3G Interview
LordVenoc & MrNobody
Author: Tornado & C3G

Not since the days of Arkham and Ronin has a duo come in and made such an impact on C3G. These two guys quickly rose through the ranks to become Heroes and intoduced us all to the worlds of Doctor Who and Valiant. It is a pleasure and an honor to present my first double interview with LordVenoc and MrNobody.

[Scapemage] What was your first C3G design? Which design has been your favorite? Is there anything you consider to be really big on your bucket list still?

MrN: My first design was the Dalek Drones, which I’m still pretty proud of. Out of all my designs, which is my favorite? Hmmm ... might have to go with Mon-El. I originally started out with a pretty basic design that had Freeze Breath, but Spidey came in with this really cool Inspiration idea that just

FFC #64 - Actions versus words

Posted December 24th, 2020 at 02:03 PM by TGRF
TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #64

This is another of those entries I don't really want to write. I'm having serious second thoughts even now. But I think it needs to be said.

----

I've found that I can say I believe one thing, and then act as though I believe the opposite. I doubt I'm alone in this - just look at politics.

Jokes aside, for the past ten years I've believed that writing was 'my thing'. Eventually, I would write a bestseller and be 'made'. For five years, that belief has been true. Writing is what I was meant to be doing.

But around the end of those five years, something changed. I finished writing The River that was Red, a story I still consider to be my best work. Upon completion, I cast about within my mind for the next story.

You see, up until that point, there had always been a 'next story'. I didn't even have to come up with them. The concepts were just sitting...

FFC #63 - Concerning an overabundance of lumber

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry # 63

I've had to temporarily pause the writing of Valkyrie. Don't worry; nothing major has happened, and I don't need to do any major reworks of the plot or anything. The story was missing a component which I should be able to add in with only minimal tweaks to the outline. It will, however, take me a few days to add in said component.

So what's the component? Emotion. Reaction. Feeling. Basically, the bit of the story I've written appears to center on lifeless pieces of wood.

Here's why: I've detailed elsewhere how I learned writing backwards, starting with what already-published authors get wrong, and only now arriving at the basics. Well, it appears that that has applied to all aspects of writing, not just character arcs and plot.

One thing it seems I don't know how to do (yet) is go beyond the backstories and collection of traits which usually make up my characters, and somehow discover...

Mass Casualty Event On Our Front Lawn

Posted December 14th, 2020 at 02:13 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus

Of the forty-two in front of the house, thirty-six had been cut in half. Cleanly bisected at the waist. Yet there was no sign of a weapon, no vandalism or anything else to suggest an attacker.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. You’ll want to know why there were forty-two gingerbread people on the front lawn. Let me tell you that these were not little gingerbread cookie people. The big ones were four foot high, most were three and there were a pair of two feet gingerbread kids.

I think I should back up even further. My partner likes to decorate things. She has a permanent display cabinet in the living room that she changes a dozen times a year; different themes for different dates. I kind of ignore it. She enjoys it and that’s reason enough to have it.

We live in a small town and this year the town sponsored an Xmas light contest. My partner was interested and I was when I heard that the prize was $1750. Turns out, it’s three
