FFC #44 - Prequel 1/3 WRITTEN!

In my last FFC, I mentioned how everything was seeming to come together for me, and my study of the 3-act structure had started to solve a lot of problems I had been plagued with for years. I was sure it was just a temporary thing, and I would start having problems again soon.
Usually I'll outline a fan fiction easily, but once I get down to the details of how exactly things unfold, and how characters reach the decisions they do, things tend to fall apart, and I can spend weeks at a time stuck, unable to get characters to make the decisions they must. I was sure that would happen with the Prequels.
But it didn't. The 3-act structure has prevailed. I can't believe I haven't used this thing until now.
Point is, I have just today finished writing the first of the three Prequels for Eternity. I expect them all to be fairly short (the second one might get a bit longer), and this first story followed that plan perfectly, coming in at 24 pages and just over 12k words. That amount might expand by roughly a page (~500 words) when I go back and edit it. That will happen after I've cleared the story from my head for a few days, so that I can go back to it with a fresh look (I imagine a game of CoN will be ideal for this).
And no, you didn't read that wrong: I've cut the number of Prequels down to three, from five. #2 and #4 didn't really add to or build on anything, and their stories were lost in the foggy halls of speculation.
My overall impression of the story: pleased with how it turned out. Like anything else, it has its issues. The first act took a few passes to figure out, but overall I like how the story ended up. For once, it is more or less how I originally envisioned it happening.
Editing and proofreading might take a bit, but I intend to post this first story once that is done. In the meantime, once it's edited, I'll start working on the second story.
