Sensei Kolakoski

Well met!

I've been studying Karate for 22 years. I've occasionally commented upon it herein (see
Heroscape & Karate - Martial Arts, Birthday Meditation, All Good Things Must . . .) Last week, I promoted to Sensei (4th degree Black Belt) in Kenshikai Karate.

Below is an extract from my promotion essay:

I did not begin studying Karate until I was 46 years old. I had only recently begun to work out, after meeting and marrying (six years previously) my wife, Babs, who had recently become an instructor at the Vanderbilt YMCA. Karate was initially a way to learn the basics of working out - how to move myself, and some light weights and cables, efficiently, such that I didn't hurt my previously sedentary self, but it soon became much more than that, its lessons
