The wait... it stings.

We've known essentially what was going to be in Wave 8 since last August. We saw all the cards by June. Many of us have multiples of everything now. And at GenCon this year...

We saw nothing.

No new figures.

No new cards.

No dates for new releases.

Just limbo.

I came to GenCon mostly to play, and to hang out with some of my best friends, and to see some other new games coming out.

After truth hinted that Wave 9 might be the best wave yet, it saddens and angers me to know that we might not see it, or that we might have to wait a very long time. This system that Craig Van Ness and his crew created just seems boundless in its possibilities, and it'd be a shame for it to die out.

Will DCI and the tournament scene make this game seem 'real' enough for the game-shoppers? Will kids still be necessary for its success? Can both groups be pleased at the same time while still keeping the spirit of the game?

At this point, I'd like to hear anything. Even "we're looking at a Q3 2009 release for Wave 9" would be preferable to dead silence.

Heh, the first time I read this sentence I thought " Major Q3? Sweet!" Untill I realized it was quater three.

I too am dissapointed that we have heard nothing.

I'm right there with you, Jexik. The promo handout debacle, the lack of a display, the uncaring workers....just feels crappy to see this system ignored.

What's worse is that they could use it to pimp their other games since the rules and/or the terrain are so adaptable to other figures and games.

Thought I'd bump this.

Because despite getting Wave 9 this year (which was awesome) and seeing W10 and a new [D&D] master set at GenCon this year (with promise of 2 more D&D waves), we still have a lot of people complaining and doom & glooming.

Scape is in better shape than it was last year, that's for sure. It's not exactly what we asked for, but it's sure something. Gameplay-wise, this year could be as fresh and fun as 2005, but people seem so caught up on the aesthetics.
