HeroScape is a wonderful way to pass an evening with friends, but for a person with a more active imagination, it also is the perfect fantasy world to dream up scenarios, terrain, and stories. This blog displays my thoughts and creations of HeroScape fantasy.

Dream About HeroScape

Posted June 23rd, 2009 at 08:09 AM by Nooblar
Hi, guys. I know you are looking forward to another map from me, and I feel bad that I have waited so long--not just because I promised a new map, but also because I need 'Scape! Believe me, it's coming (soon, if I can find a functional photographic device). Anyway, last night I had a dream about HeroScape. Does that mean I'm addicted? Here it is in full, just as I transcribed it immediately after waking up.
---------------------------------

I am supposed to go to Target to get a PSP for Mom. She says she saw one in the shopping carts outside, so I should buy that one (as if it were on clearance). I drive up to the Target store and the workers are bringing carts in. I must have looked as if I were looking for something so he asked, “Looking for that PSP? It’s probably inside at the service desk.”

I go inside to find the service desk. I get the PSP and something else, but I notice a lady who is shopping with a HeroScape Master Set in her cart. I put my things in her cart when she’s not looking. When she turns around, I say, “Whoops! I accidentally dropped my things in your cart!” Then I commented on how HeroScape was a very good game, and she asked me questions about it. She seemed to think that because she was 40 she couldn’t play it. I mentioned that there was a fan site, and a lot of the fans were older people. The lady says, “Well, let’s open it up right now and see what it’s about.

I take the box. It looks more plain than previous editions—brown cardboard as if it is recycled material—with the images printed on it in black ink. The package is more square than the other Master Sets, but about the same volume. Six figures are twist-tied to the outside of the packaging—one is a 10th Foot and the others are solid-colored, unrecognizable figures. I open the box to show her the other figures and terrain. In the box are more solid-colored, unpainted figs, and instead of ruins the set included a kind of pagoda structure. I was disappointed to find unpainted minis, and surprised to see the pagoda.

The dream ended with two of my cousins, Mom, and me playing HeroScape. Mom accuses one cousin of cheating, but he blames it on his brother.

The ending is kind of random, but OKAY!

I occasionally have dreams about Heroscapers (not the game, the people on the site). Usually it's people I've met, and I'm beating them in a game, and they only have 1 guy left, and they come back and win, and then some big, 9-foot tall guy comes over and says that I lose by 1000 points, because they say so. It's sad. Sometimes, when I win, My opponent always seems to turn into Spider_Poison at the last minute. I think it means something.

I've seen the hexes in my dreams too, Nooblar. I once dreamed that the GenCon exclusives were all packaged together along with some strange terrain pieces (no pagodas, sorry.) I probably dreamed that because it's the only way I'm ever gonna get my hands on 'em. But then I guess they wouldn't be "exclusives" then, would they?
