This is a battle summary for the game Heroes of ‘Scape

Battle 5: Traversing the Mountain Path

Barely escaping with their lives, the Heroes managed to slip past the Kyrie guarding the mountain path. Bloody and battered they take shelter for a few days to recover, but its time for them to venture down the mountainside to visit the next town. Along the way the Heroes ran into a voyaging Warforged Wizard who was heading the same way. Instead of starting another fight, they decide to join forces down the mountainside.

On the path before them lies a gauntlet of wild monsters that inhabit the area.

Amidst some old ruins a band of Dwarves are taking shelter. Unfortunately for our adventurers, these Dwarves are not too kind on trespassers.

As the Heroes begin to mobilize, a Blue Wyrmling who was lying in waiting quickly ambushes them. His lightning breath zaps two of the Heroes, but they easily dodge the attack. The Monk and Viking quickly run in to engage the Wyrmling while the Archer and Wizard fire from support. While preoccupied with the Wyrmling a Water Elemental immediately appears before them in a pool of water, having tunneled from a spot further downstream.

The two creatures quickly fall, but a Wyvern swoops down from above and snatches the Monk on its way, placing him in some water below it. With the Monk’s swiftness and agility however, the Wyvern’s attack was in vain as the Samurai Archer wastes no time in placing an arrow into the beast’s heart, killing it.

The Heroes return to the path and cross the bridge. Since the Samurai took his action destroying the Wyvern, the rest went along ahead of him. Unfortunately for the Archer, the Heroes are ambushed by a squadron of Kyrie. Before the Archer has time to react, three arbalest bolts are hurled deep into the Archer’s body.

As the Heroes turn back to take care of the Kyrie, an Air Elemental flies in and assaults the Heroes.

Unafraid of the consequences, the Warforged Wizard leaves engagement with the Air Elemental and hurls an Arcane Bolt at the Kyrie. The surge of energy rips through two of the Kyrie Protectors.

The rest of the Heroes find themselves in a duel on the bridge with the Air Elemental, while the Wizard tries to blast the Kyrie from across the bridge (sound effects may have been made ).

Once the Air Elemental was destroyed the Monk and Viking charge at the Kyrie Leader, finishing him quickly.

But while the melee warriors were busy with Atlaga, a Feral Trolls crosses the river. Going into a blood frenzy, the Feral Troll deals great damage on the Human Wizard Cleric.

As the rest of the group runs to the rescue, the Feral Troll is still in a frenzy and the Cleric is left unable to fight. The Troll falls shortly after from heavy strikes made by the Monk and Warforged.

The rest of the party advances on the Dwarves’ position. The squad of Dwarf Fighters are almost all destroyed in the first assault, but one of them manages to hide behind the ruin wall while the Dwarf leaders duke it out against the Heroes.

Even though heavy hits were exchanged, the Viking was far too tough and the Monk far too quick for either to take much damage from the Dwarves. The Iron Golem comes around from behind. Seeking out the nearest source of magic, it charges the Warforged Wizard. The Wizard hurls bolt at it, but its iron tough armor easily deflects the attack, so the Wizard retreats for now.

After the last Dwarf was dealt with the Monk chargef and Iron Golem and with one well places attack turns it into a heap of scrap metal. The Heroes that were still standing go back to bandage the wounds of the fallen Heroes, and with a clear path in front of them, they continue down the mountainside.

Meanwhile, a different party of Heroes has been assigned with a quest to destroy an army of Orcs in their mountain lair. Next time…

Well we ended up waiting in line for the haunted house a lot longer than we planned so we won't be playing this tonight.

It will happen though, if I have to make my opponents play at gunpoint, I will play this!
