Scaper of the Week Interview # 58
Here we have the interview of the person that will save Heroscape! Once he meets certain conditions, of course.
The picture of the red man running with an axe, and is apparently colorblind, so he doesn't know he's red.
He's also a member of the Juggalo Ninjas, who are so elusive that even he can't describe them.
I present to all Heroscapers:
-Scaper of the Week # 58-
http://www.heroscapers.com/community...ine=1216571781 southwest ninja
Who are you?
Just a guy who for some reason is unable to win the lottery……
Who, or what, is your avatar and how did you come up with your username?
It’s the hatchetman, the universal symbol for psychopathic records and Juggalos around the world!
Age: 26
Occupation?
Sitting around until a server or computer goes down, occasionally fixing it.
Allegiance and why?
Utgar; evil is the new good. Right?
When did you get into HeroScape and why?
Around December of 2006. My girl’s cousin’s fiancé was huge into the game and brought down all his figs and a lot of terrain in hopes of teaching someone over the holiday break. The night before they left he convinced us to sit down and try it. He just tossed out a bunch of terrain and said build whatever you want. We went crazy and built this completely unfair 3x5 map and then proceeded to build a 1000 point army. I don’t know how but I won by running around with Krug smacking anything I could. The next day I was at Toys-R-Us buying everything on the shelf.
Favorite aspect of HeroScape and why?
It really is a gateway to gaming. It got me and everyone in my current gaming group to look past the stigma of gaming and gamers. It has something that appeals to everyone. Just tossing tiles to someone and saying build what you want and then seeing them go back to being a kid playing with legos is something else.
Favorite Unique Hero and why?
Tor-Kul-Na; have you seen his sculpt?!!!!??!?! He is just this big nasty thing that doesn’t care who or what you are. He is going to just crush you! If he can’t crush you then he will just savagely beat you. I mean the guy eats his friends to stay alive.........
Favorite Uncommon Hero and why?
Werewolf Lord; I’ve always been a fan of the wolves, and anything that makes them slightly more playable is great in my book.
Favorite Common Hero and why?
All the Wyrmlings.
Favorite Unique Squad and why?
Ninjas of the Northern Wind; they are ninjas, that should be enough right there. But since there are some pirate fans out there I will go further. This was one of the first unique squads we picked up and they saw the table a lot. At that time they were really really good since we didn’t have a lot of special attackers at my house.
Favorite Common Squad and why?
Heavy Gruts. Bonding is great, and I have never really been a fan of the good guys so the knights were out. They also give me an excuse to play with a dinosaur; now who doesn’t want to still do that?
Favorite Special Ability and why?
If I didn’t already go with Mr. Stompy for my favorite unique it would be his, so I’ll pick Stinger Drain. I love when my opponents try to talk me into it hoping I blow myself up but instead I wind up with the bonus and rip through their defenses. The possibility to give yourself height advantage when you don’t have it is a wonderful thing.
Runa or Sudema?
Ummm neither? If I had to pick; it's Runa, if it wasn’t cactus would be disappointed.
Anything you'd change about the game - a unit, rule, or mechanic?
A lot! Actually just the competiveness of some units, I love the mechanics and rules. I am not one looking for realism in the game so the current rule set works for me. You should take a look at the Competitive Unit Congress thread and see what part of the community is coming up with in regards to tweaking some of the lesser used cards. The currently accepted changes are what I actually use in my house over the official ones. So far it’s made Gorillinators, Hatamoto, Templar’s, Roman archers, Samurai archers, THE IMPERIUM!!!, and Moriko playable. Eventually when we get a couple more done I plan on hosting a tourney requiring you to bring 1 of these custom errata cards.
What do you enjoy most about Heroscapers.com?
I find myself reading the "What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?" thread a lot for new ideas. We have such a diverse group of gamers that I am always looking up games I have never heard of. I love and play HeroScape a lot but I have all that I will ever need. (Except some zombies ….) Also the resource of various maps is greatly appreciated. I have made some lifelong friends from this site as well. Oh and the general section can be an absolute hoot to read!
Favorite HeroScape moment:
Being ridiculed by my friends for having my wife Sarah win last year’s NHSD. I felt privileged and humiliated at the same time.
Another board game you enjoy and why?
I have to pick one? If you go into the board games played thread and pick anything posted it could probably be used to answer this question. Lately we have been playing a lot of Kingsburg and Citadels. REALLY REALLY liking Descent!
Other interests?
With the busy life of work and social drinking it’s hard to have time for other interests. I do.
Five Fun Favorites
Favorite TV Show:
Family Guy
Favorite Movie of All Time:
Ong Bok
Favorite book:
Anything in the Xanth series
Favorite sport:
Basketball to play Football to watch, screw baseball…..
Favorite food:
Yes……..
How did you get your title?
I made an obscure reference to an old popsicle commercial about a colorblind dog. He makes the statement "I’m color blind kid." It appears as if I was stating that I was a colorblind kid. Grunge took it from there.
Care to explain your "interests?" Such as; who or what are juggalo ninjas?
There simply is no such thing as an explanation that could encompass the who or what of a Juggalo Ninja, we just always were, always are, and always will be.
If you could be a professional ninja, would you take the task?
That actually was my life goal. I was training to be so and had intentions of becoming a Navy Seal to run Black Ops which is like a modern day ninja. Unfortunately a titanium plate and 12 screws ended that venture.
Any Heroscapers member you'd really like to play against?
Lonewolf, if you need to ask why then I have no answer for you.
What message do you have for the community?
Don’t worry about the future of scape, I have it all taken care of. When I win the lottery I am buying out the game and getting it back on track! It just might take me 20 or 30 years…….
What Units would you like to see in the next Unit Debate?
Could we go with Wyrmlings VS Elementals?
Who do you pick for the next 'Scaper of the Week?
Raudulfr Shieldcrusher

No worries, MegaSilver; I'm just glad to see this feature continue.
Sarah's almost certainly the most accomplished female tournament Heroscape player out there; there's no shame in finishing behind her. I'll guess the lie is... hey, wait, what?? |

Wait, what! He left them out? Why didn't I notice it earlier!
Off to see if he did it on purpose or not... |

sw ninja hosted the first Heroscape tournament I ever went to, and since then I've been hooked on them, so thanks for that, Terry! Say hi to Sarah for me - hope to see you both in Warren in May!
Good call on Shieldcrusher - another NE Ohio tournament regular known on here for his awesome custom stuff. I have one of those dice bowls too, QTip, and it rocks. |

SWN just told me he left it out on purpose, since he couldn't think of anything.
