The stress involved to have alot of fun.

Posted November 1st, 2008 at 11:38 AM by Onacara
As anyone here who has planned a party or a tournament can probably attest to, there is alot of stress and anxiety involved with getting everything done. You want to make sure yor guests enjoy themselves as well as make yourself look good. Inveitably you end up forgetting something (come on you are human things happen) but you get so worked up about it that you think everything is ruined because of it.

Now lets take that same level of stress and anxiety and multiply it by 100 and that is will describe me right now trying to plan everything out for TempleCon and TotalCon, two gaming conventions here in the north east that NESA has been asked to run Heroscape at.

Maybe it's just me and my wanting to do "too much" but I really want this to come off the way I think companies should present their games. I don't want it to look like it is being run by a bunch of goofball fans. I want this to be a mini-GenCon experience for those who can't make the annual pilgimage to Indy but to also wet their whistle enough that they do decide that this was so great that they HAVE TO go to GenCon next year.

I really am trying to keep myself in reality here as I know if I don't it will cost me a few hundred if not thousand dollars to get it perfect. In the end I imagine that as long as everyone has fun then we have achieved our goal.

So what exactly is going into all of this planning? Alot and I hope to document it all here in a journal form so you can take this trip along with me and my crew.

Today begins the test runs on how exactly we are going to apply our sponsors logos to our playing tables. We want to make sure that those who contribute prize support are properly recognized and displayed so all of the attendees know where to get their Heroscape and Gaming accessories. Naturally Heroscapers.com will get plenty of advertising too because without them we never would have gotten to where we are now.

Any ideas...feedback...etc is appreciated.

"Your rep for being a jerk is well-deserved."

Posted August 24th, 2008 at 10:38 AM by Onacara
It's comments like this attached to neg rep that truly make my day. Why? Because obviously this person either takes me too seriously or else they have no concept on what being a jerk really is.

Yes I come off as a bit brash at times and I am not all warm and cuddly but anyone who knows me or at least gets to meet me in real life knows that I am one of the nicest people out there.

I cannot tell you how many times people say to me "I really thought you were an ass but now I don't" or "I wanted to hate you but I can't".

Ok I am sure that there is a small percentage of people who still don't like me after they meet me (they are usually just jealous on how ruggedly handsome I am though) but thats their prerogative. A few have said it to my face and that is actually very cool in my eyes because they have the balls to say it and not put on some fake polite front.

This goes both ways. There was one particular person that I went to GenCon with a preconceived notion of them (and they of me). Perhaps we would have just avoided each other but inevitably we were right there face to face with each other and I believe after it all we had a new "respect" for each other...but I could be wrong..after all I am just a jerk right?
