Why Heroscapers should buy Magic:Arena of the Planeswalkers

This is my first attempt at a “blog” style post but I felt I must post this as a PSA both to Heroscapers and for the game Magic: the Gathering - Arena of the Planeswalkers. I am 95% sure the game is dead/discontinued, but that does not stop why people should buy. Tom Vasel made an excellent video that explains the similarities, differences, and some reasons Heroscapers should get.

However, I thought I would compile some well thought-out reasons why everyone at this site should get the three available sets.
  • It is cheap and easy to get! Right now, you can get all three sets for less than $30 (actually both master sets for $5 each on HasbroToyShop on eBay); see MtG:Arena of the Planeswalkers - Sales Online for links to buy each set with prices, but you can also get at some Wal-Marts, Toys-R-Us and local game stores. Even compared to the original MSRP

C3G Strategy Guide
LexCorp Security
By: Lazy Orang (Guest Writer)

The LexCorp Security are the core of one of my favourite builds in the game, and one I have found to be extremely strong—not Sinestro Corps level, but very little is, and a good LexCorp build can easily be as strong as a good Professor X build, in my opinion—and yet, they only have a C- in the power rankings. Let’s see if I (a decidedly unqualified casual player) can shed some light on this sadly underappreciated squad.

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Human (Slight synergy, but it’s nothing major, and being a common squad eliminates most of it (Alfred Pennyworth, Cloning, etc). I believe it’s pretty much just the ability to add one...

Map Craft
Map Size In Map Making
By: BiggaBullfrog

All right, map making time! Go to your collection and choose what you’re going to use. What kind of map do you want to make? Do you want to make a huge, epic battlefield? Or would you prefer a smaller map for a quick and nasty skirmish? How varied should the height be?

This is the first of a few articles that we in the ARV will be producing to help mapmakers improve their skills. In this article, we’ll be going over map sizes, discussing topics such as how large a map should be and how high you should build it. Our focus will be competitive maps, although you can apply these principles to casual use.

But… Why?

Let’s answer the big question first. Why is map size and relative height variation an important concept in map making? Why will knowing this help

kolakoski's Buildfest of Champions Competition #1

Posted June 17th, 2017 at 03:41 PM by kolakoski

Well met!

[Borrowing heavily from
kevindola's Competitive Army Challenge]

This is a prize-free competition for army building. Here are the rules:

I will propose a scenario complete with map. Your job is to submit to me via PM your 1 army build. Feel free to give your army a name to add to the fun of the competition.

Army Submission Deadline: Monday, 7/17

After the deadline I will post all the armies anonymously.
Each person will get to vote for up to 4 armies that you think are the best in a round robin format for the given scenario. After voting I will submit a final four bracket for the Final Four and championship. We will do a final round of voting where you get 1 vote for your pick for the Champion. The Champion will be then be announced and showered with praise.

Since I would like the army submissions to be anonymous, this thread can be about pre army idea discussion,

C3G Strategy Guide
Maxima
By: Ronin

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Alderacian
Uniqueness – Unique Hero
Class – Queen
Personality – Proud
Size/Height – Medium 5

Maxima has a wholly unique species and her class is shared with only one other C3G figure, Mera. As a result, she can fit very easily into Star-Lord builds. Otherwise, there’s nothing noteworthy going on in her left box. Medium 5 unique heroes are C3G standard.

Statistics Breakdown
Life – 7
Move – 7
Range – 4
Attack – 5
Defense – 6
Points – 345

Maxima is a high-end figure that delivers a lot in the way of raw stats, before you even make your way to the special powers.
