When I first got online with Xbox Live, I choose the name Raider30. Raider because I’m an Oakland ... (sigh) Las Vegas (sigh) ... Raiders fan and 30 because I was ... (sigh) 30 (sigh) ... at the time.

What are other games you enjoy and why?
Currently my last few games played have been Marvel Champions, Dawn of the Zeds, Dresden Files card game, Zombicide, HexPloreIt, ah: soooo many games to play.

What other interests do you have?
I enjoy reading, playing the occasional video game, exercising, and painting minis.

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #58

So. It's been a week or so under two months since I said I was taking a break from writing. In that time I've been able to address some things which really required addressing. Most of that stuff still isn't remotely resolved, but writing, at least, seems to be coming back.

Very, very slowly.

But it is coming back. While I say that, I'm aware that I have not yet actually written anything, so this is all based off of my reliably-unreliable intuition. But I'll take it. Here's what's going on:

Writing is going to happen. I am once again sure about this. What I am NOT sure about is the format that writing will be in (fan fiction, novel, something else, etc.).

I've always assumed that once I had written enough fan fiction, I would create my masterwork of a novel, send it to an agent, get published, and make a million bucks. Or something along those lines. I'm... not so sure...

COVID Crush

My family has sheltered in place during the COVID lockdown. We only went out for groceries and other essentials... sometimes screws and nails are essentials. I was often the person going out- and I’m a homebody anyway- so I didn’t notice the stir crazy building in the rest of my family. I mean I’ve always thought they were a little cuckoo but apparently now part of it was because they wanted desperately to go somewhere other than the backyard and the garage.

My step-daughter was called back to work. She works and lives in a different place, and she just came home when things closed down. So when she started at work again she went back and we decided to go visit her. She lives in a small town and everything is closed there so I found a nearby Conservation Area with a waterfall- waterfalls always cheer everyone up, don’t they?

It was only a day trip but we were out of practice going places. We couldn’t remember what to bring. Obviously...

My user name actually comes from the War of the Maccabees. It happened in the 2nd century BC. The Seleucid empire had taken over parts of Alexander the Great’s empire. Antiochus IV Epiphanes basically outlawed Jewish religious practices and customs. A priest by the name of Mattathias Maccabeus refused to worship the Greek gods and started the revolt against the Seleucid empire. He, and later his sons, reclaimed the temple that the Seleucid empire had desecrated. This is actually where Hanukah comes from.
