Scores of S'Mores
Posted July 28th, 2010 at 09:31 PM by Onacara
Ok so growing up in the Bronx we didn't get to BBQ much..and we never went camping...so I was deprived the delight of the chocolately gooey goodness of s'mores.
A few years ago after we had bought our current home..my kids asked if we could make them.
So I reluctantly said sure....they loved them...and I loved them and they soon became a summertime staple.
A couple of weeks ago after we had a birthday party for them with their friends where the s'mores were a'plenty I started thinking that there has to be a way to make this even better so I began experimenting....
First we changed the kind of marshmallows...
We tried chocolate marshmallows and they were good but weren't much different than the regular.
Then we tried coconut covered marshmallow...these were a bit tricky since the toasted coconut on the side catches fire easily...these were so-so and not worth the extra care it takes to toast the marshmallow.
Next we decided to change out the chocolate with...
Miniature Peanut Butter Cups...OH MY GOD I died and went to Heaven!!!!
Thin Mints...I liked them the kids didn't...oh well to each his own
Rolos....These ran a close second to the Peanut butter cups
Then we decided to swap out the graham crackers for...
Chocolate graham crakers....good but I like the regular graham cracker flavor.
Deluxe Grahams....these were pretty awesome but very messy
Finally we decided to add something else to the party....
Sliced bananas.....totally amazing.
We still have a few more "recipes" to try out...but if you are planning on making S'Mores any time soon...might I suggest

Banana goes on with the Chocolate, I assume? I do enjoy Peanut Butter and Banana Sammiches, and you pretty much are a genius, so I think I might have to try this.

I put the banana on the graham craker and then the chocolate on top of that so it melts with the hot marshmallow... the banana gets smooshed together with the whole thing.

I always stuffed the chocolate inside of the marshmallow. That's the best way to go IMO
edit: after the marshmallow is roasted, not before (it's just too messy and half the time it all falls in the fire anyways) |

The peanut butter thing I use all the time out in out fire pit in our backyard. If you're short of Reese's you can always spread the peanut butter onto the graham and slap the chocolate on top.
Also, my neighbor works for Ghiardelli, so when he comes over we get to use his fancy, individually wrapped and perfectly s'more sized chocolates. Peanut butter filled chocolate bars were obvious, but then we moved onto caramel. That was really good but still kind of normal. Then, mint flavored. HAWT DAYUM! It's the best when the chocolate frozen/cold. |

You suck! Add this to the myriad of things I can't have.

Are you allergic to something? (hope it's not chocolate...)
