5. Eltris with Charos

Here is another playtest that I completed with Eltris over the Summer for posterity's sake.

New Detroit v2.0 (with two Treasure Glyphs)
Army 1: Eltris, Charos, Guilty McCreech, Isamu (315)
Army 2: Knights of Weston x3, Sir Gilbert (315)

Usefulness of Abilities:
Eltris’ boost to Charos was mostly felt in the attack department. The poor dragon had some poor rolls, but the knights ultimately had the number needed to break through his terrifying Counter Strike with 6 defense. Once again, the extra 65 points hardly felt like it was worth it for the meager boost that it added to already impressive stats.

That said, this time Eltris actually performed a little bit after her dragon died. With her boosted stats (5 attack/3 defense) on height, she was able to deal a little damage to the knights and distract them for a little while, which made her feel much better.

Additional Comments:
Guilty McCreech managed to take out 6 knights thanks to the Heavy Snow map; so even though that army won, a large portion of it can be contributed to the gunslinger. Eltris and Charos on their own performed poorly against what should’ve been a very good match-up for them.

Since she has always underperformed so far, she will be receiving a 10-point decrease to ease the expensive burden she adds to armies. Since he base stats are now solid, though, I don’t think any further price decreases will be the route to go (she has already become a decent 55pt filler for non-dragon armies). I may have to toy around with increasing her range on Dragon Rider to 3 spaces (to give the dragon more freedom in leaving her behind) or adding to the Dragon Ally’s Move in addition to Attack and Defense, but that worries me a little bit about Zelrig and being too similar to Gladiator Inspiration.

Whatever the case, I’ll be proceeding with the following revisions for the next set of playtests:

CHANGES FROM FIRST FIVE PLAYTESTS:
  • Drop points from 65 to 55.
  • Increase attack from 4 to 5.
  • Increase defense from 2 to 3.
  • Change “Dragon Rider” to only add 1 die to the Dragon Ally’s attack and defense if it is within 2 clear sight spaces of Eltris.
