'Scaper-of-the-Month #87

Posted June 29th, 2013 at 12:08 PM by truth
'Scaper-of-the-Month #87 is...
Confred

PROFILE:

Who are you really?
I am Luke Burris

How old are you?
29

What is your occupation?
Currently, I am a Shift Leader @ Arby's.

What other interests do you have?
I view that everything is itself in particular and muddied by layers of others, while being a layer that muddies others. I like defining things, finding their essence, discovering their parameters, and then meshing them with other things I've put through the same treatment to see what happens. I like making things work.
re: Editing, theoryscaping, playtesting, game design, mediation, mentoring, customer service, science, existence, theology, philosophy, time.

What's another board game you enjoy and why?
Right now I'm playing the heck out of Solforge, because it is so difficult to beat but on the surface seems so simple.
Also, Battles of Westeros: but I can barely get people to play it.

Who, or what, is you avatar and how did you come up with your username?
My avatar is drawn by one of my favorite artists and is from one of my favorite games: Star Control 2. Functionally, the pinkness helps me identify my posts from others while quickly scrolling through threads.
My name originated from "Cornfed" of TV's "Duckman", one of those shows I would sneakily watch as a child.

HEROSCAPE:

When and how did you first get into Heroscape?
Wal*Mart. I saw the box and could hardly believe a game could exist that had dinosaurs, elves, samurai, robots, and vikings.

What is your favorite aspect of Heroscape?
The inclusiveness. From Lannisters to My Little Pony, every character can convert to Heroscape format and still be canon.

To whom is your allegiance and why?
Einar ultimately, but I play everybody.

Who is your favorite Common hero and why?
I've never played with a Common Hero. Agent Carr to me is the most memorable of Heroscape's heroes however.

Who is your favorite Unique squad and why?
Ninjas of the Northern Wind, for their survivability.

What is your favorite Special Ability and why?
Counter Strike. Because I want you to pay for trifling with me

What is your favorite custom and why?
My most recent favorite is C3G's Spiderman. He has mobility and survivability.

What can you tell us about the Space Hulk project?
Space Hulk is a campaign setting filled with narrow corridors with limited lines of sight pitting a small but elite force against hordes of deadly adversaries.

The setting is in the fabled Warhammer 40K future universe.
You get to command Space Marines, superhumans that can individually wreak havoc.
Your foes are the Tyranid, adaptable and cunning, they hide and swarm and their numbers seem unending.

The project brainchild is orgsbane. I am the design lead. With all my projects, I post my thoughts and progress openly to the public and consider everything WIP and open to community involvement and input.

The thread should be interesting to most. I encourage others to join us.

COMMUNITY:

What do you enjoy most about HeroScapers.com?
The creativity of its members and the customs that come forth.

Describe your favorite HeroScape moment.
The Space Hulk project has had some tight and exciting matches. At one time, a type of tyranid could essentially The Drop every om and use figures that were previously destroyed. The bodies would pile up in the teens and then a Bolter would Jam and all forward momentum would be lost - one never knew when their party would wipe, despite being so powerful.

Is there any member of HeroScapers.com you’d really like to play against?
orgsbane

UNIT DEBATE:

Since we are in-between debates, what two units would you like to see in the next Unit Debate?
I haven't been keeping up with it I'm afraid. I'd like to see a Death Battle against Naruto and Ang, the last Air Bender. I'd like to see an Epic Rap Battle against Joss Whedan and William Shakespeare.

LIE DETECTOR:

Tell us two true things about yourself and one lie.
1) Once I entered the wrong apartment directly into the middle of a full-scale drug operation.
2) I previously served as liasion to the heads of the Nigirean Consulate
3) I've shaken hands with, sat with, and shared ideas with at least three political leaders.

THREE FUN FAVORITES:

Favorite Song:
Bee Gee's: Stayin' Alive

Favorite Poem:
N/A

Favorite Book:
Game of Thrones series - hands down. Students should be studying this in school.

CLOSING:

What message do you have for the ‘Scaper community?
Always give the benefit.

Whom do you pick for the next ‘Scaper of the Month?
This nomination pulled me back in so perhaps it will do the same with MattHelm

Thanks again for your time!
The honor has been mine. Tough times have passed recently. This outreach has been a pick-me-up.

Last Months lie was:

Great interview! For anyone intrested in the Space Hulk, you can find it here: http://www.heroscapers.com/community...ad.php?t=47580

For lie detector, I'm going with number. Number 1 is far to plausible nowadays. Number 3 could also happen. And I don't know what the Nigerian Consulate is, soooo...

Great interview, Confred. It's cool to see a 'scapers "retiree" get the spotlight. I'll guess #2 is the lie as well. Political leaders could be small-town mayors.

Good interview Confred.

My Guess #1 as the other two seem too out of the box to not be true

Good reading Confred! Just peeking at the Space Hulk project definately looks promising. I've gotta read through it all.

Also, I'm going with #1 as the lie. Drug schemes are probably more likely to be held in houses, or the entire apartment complex... In a single apartment, the risk is much to high. Of course, for addicts, they might not consider this, which disproves my theory.

Now I got Stayin' Alive in my head. Now try falling asleep to that...

#1 is most likely the lie, IMO.

#2 is most likely referring to those scams from Nigerian Princes. So in a roundabout way, real.

#3, probably is/was/were local politicians, so very likely.

You're not required to share it. I've seen some people not share it.

To add on to what MegaSilver said, it is also hard to do anything with the name if you don't have a general location (even naming a state won't help nefarious people much unless you have a rare name).

Last time I took a CPR refresher, they told us to do chest compressions to the rythm of...wait for it...Stayin' Alive (I'm actually being serious).

Sorry for the Necro, but I have three questions:

1) Shouldn't this be 'Scaper of the Month #88?
2) What happened to the July edition of 'Scaper of the Month?
3) Who is currently running the 'Scaper of the Month article feature?
