Nhsd 2008!

GenCon is over, and October is only a few weeks away. That means the countdown to National Heroscape Day can commence!
October 18th (and in some locations the 19th) will have people all across the nation and globe playing Heroscape together in a celebration of the greatest game ever made.
The biggest news this year is that it looks like Wizards of the Coast is interested in formalising thourneys both by using the DCI ranking system used for other WotC games, and more importantly with prize support! That's right, folks, you can actually start winning cool prizes for playing Heroscape!
R˙chean is hosting the NHSD Hexes in Texas tourney for the Dallas/Fort Worth area this year, and it looks like it's going to be an amazing event.
To spice things up, R˙chean had Truth roll a D20 and report the score. Using a formula, that value determined the army point total for the event. Truth scored an 18, meaning army point totals will be 540 this year. The new point total means new opportunities, so that, in turn, spawned a great discussion thread about 540 point tourney armies.
I'm nowhere near close to deciding what I'm going to run in this event... I have three different builds, mostly General specific that I'm leaning towards, but I've got a lot of testing to do to figure out what works.
In the meantime, I've just been building the maps we'll see at the event and playing regular games on them to get a feel for the terrain. I did a Battle Report on the revised Meat Grinder 2008 map yesterday.
Long days and pleasant nights, folks!
