Heroes vs Squads

When choosing armies at my gaming table, we have several army drafting styles. Among them are choosing squad heavy or hero heavy armies.

It seems hero heavy armies are growing in popularity. Several of my regular opponents create armies that consist of back to back heroes. This has advantages and drawbacks.

The advantages are that heroes in general have some of the best special abilities and stats. They have the extra life that keeps them around longer, and as single hero like a dragon, can destroy its points worth and then some before going down.

The cons are that a hero heavy army is going to be very small, and can be decimated easily by overwhelming numbers or special abilities like (chomp) or (helm of mitensoul aura) that drop heroes in 1 hit. The loss of each figure can be a significant loss to your over all armies strength.
