Holy Creativity, Batman!

This Blog entry is not what it seems…

At first glance of the pictures to follow, you may think this is a “look at my huge collection-o-rama” type blog. It’s not. You might even think it is sales pitch for Heroclix figures. The purpose is not that directly, but that could be a result of the intended delivery.

Actually, I have never played a game of Heroclix in my life nor do I even know the rules of how to play. Some of my figures do not have the correct base and some of them do not even have a base (currently). Honestly, OCD aside, it really doesn’t bother me because the reason I have my Heroclix collection is because of the phenomenal Super Hero custom creators that we have on this site.

First off, I hope the custom creators get a kick out of seeing their creations being used by someone else than themselves. I know as a custom creator myself, it can be discouraging sometimes wondering if people even actually use your customs. We have a pretty good support system within our little custom creator world of helping and critiquing each others creations, but we wonder if it ever goes to next step of actually using our creations in game settings other than simple play testing. Well, let me tell you. I certainly have the ability to play a bunch of different creations.

I am betting that only the creators will notice that some of my cards are older versions of their creations. The truth is I am slowly working my way back through the cards, reprinting as necessary as I go. With almost 400 different cards printed, some multiple times because of changes, I have managed to go through a few printer cartridges, but I just write that of as money well spent.

The real purpose of this blog entry is to show the rest of the community that we have a virtual gold mine of additions/creations that can easily incorporated into any Heroscape game. By no means do these pictures do justice to the true amount of cards that have been created in the Super Hero world (DC, Marvel, Independents, etc). These are just the cards that I printed out for the figures that I do have. There are hundreds and hundreds of cards to choose from. Fair warning though, all the cards have not been thoroughly play tested. Some are more play tested than others. Most are pretty close, but all of them are fun. Amazingly, you will also find that there are in fact some Heroes that do not have cards made for them (yet).

You may notice in some of the pictures that some of the figures do not have cards underneath them. They are the sad heroes and villains that are waiting for a home.
I hope by posting these pictures that we do get a little more traffic in our little custom world to help us with the occasional play testing and possibly even gain some more custom creators out of the process. It is a win-win situation if you ask me. Even if you feel you are not up to play testing or creating, we would still love your feedback/critiques of any and all creations that have been made or will be made in the future. Do not think that just because you are not a creator yourself that you will not have some great input.

We have some great contributors in the Super Hero custom world and we even have some new blood cranking them out within the past couple months. I would love to name them all here, but I would be afraid that I would miss a few deserving individuals. We have some members that have even created tutorials and templates that make creating cards something that even I can do (which says a lot, I promise you ).Come over and take a look and let us know what you think. You might find some customs that you just can’t live without.

For those interested, I have managed to pick up most (95%) of my figures as either gifts (allskulls and ninthdoc, I am looking squarely at you) or at $.50 or less per figure. I am lucky to have a game store very close to my house that has a huge “$.50 cent” box of Heroclix figures with more collections being added on a fairly regular basis. I have ordered some from online and have found the site www.trollandtoad.com to be a great site to use. I am sure that there are other sites that you might find a figure or two for a lower price, but overall www.trollandtoad.com has better prices than others that I have seen.

Last, but not least, I want to thank Truth again for the playground he provides for us geeks to gather. There would not be a community for us to share our creations so easily without the time and dedication that he and his army of admins dedicate to this site. Now, if you will excuse me, I have a few new cards that I need to print out…

Awesome post. I saw these pictures go up in the gallery awhile back and thought it was very cool to see what an impressive catalog of figures the super hero custom creators have developed.

No doubt. These images are amazing, and really show off all the hard work and dedication the folks in the Superhero customs forum have put in to try and help give 'MarvelScape' more luster, and more fun!

Thanks for posting these, UPC!
