Ridiculously simple OM management armies
I was just idly thinking... if you were only allowed to put OMs on a single card, what 500 point, 24 hex armies would be playable? The inability to fill in with other units makes the 500 point limit a lot more restrictive. Here's what I could come up with. OM sink in bold.
200 Kato Katsuro
180 Ashigaru Harquebus x3
120 Ashigaru Yari x3
500, 25 hexes (lose one figure)
Comments: The one that got me thinking. Other than the well-known problem (crappy defense) this is a solid army.
120 Arrow Gruts x3
100 Swog Rider x4
120 Krug
150 Mimring
490, 21 hexes
Comments: Another pretty standard army.
160 Marro Hive
240 Marro Stingers x4
100 Marro Druge/Drones x2
500, 24 hexes
Comments: It's tough to make good use of the Hive with only 24 hexes to work with.
250 Roman Legionnaires x5
100 Marcus Decimus Gallus
90 Ne-Gok-Sa
50 Me-Burq-Sa
490, 24 hexes
Comments: Solid Army. Short on range but entirely playable.
200 Sacred Band x4
100 Marcus Decimus Gallus
90 Parmenio
110 Valguard (disciplined)
500, 19 hexes
Comments: Decent use of Sacred Band.
120 Marrden Nagrubs x4
220 Tor-Kul-Na
160 Su-Bak-Na
500, 16 hexes
Comments: The challenge is making sure you use all the grub lives before you run out of hivelords.
280 Heavy Gruts x4
120 Grimnak
100 Tornak
500, 20 hexes
Comments: Ornak is less useful if you can't use him to activate multiple heroes. You can swap Nerak in for a squad if you want. An all-Blade Grut version takes too many hexes.
280 Knights of Weston x4
105 Sir Gilbert
110 Alistair MacDirk
495, 18 hexes
Comments: solid.
320 MacDirk Warriors x4
100 Sir Denrick
80 Thorgrim the Viking Champion
500, 18 hexes
Comments: Just about the only champ combo that adds up.
190 Red Skull
180 Major Q9
80 Raelin the Kyrie Warrior (RoTV)
50 Me-Burq-Sa
500, 6 hexes
Comments: Red Skull frees you to pick whatever unique hero you please.
Oh, and who could forget these beauties...
480 Stingers/Zombies x8
480 points, 24 hexes
490 Aubrien Archers x7
490 points, 21 hexes
500 Microcorp Agents/Omnicron Snipers x5
500 points, 15 hexes
480 Templar Cavalry x4
480 points, 24 hexes
Comments: Those are really the only monolithic armies playable at the 500 point level, although pure Omnicrons or Templars probably isn't really playable. The Stinger one is pure evil...
EDIT: How could I forget...
150 Ulginesh
80 Emirroon
50 Arkmer
20 Kyntela Gwyn
100/90 Morsbane/Chardris
100 Jorhdawn
500/490, 7 hexes
Comments: Other than being a low-defense, overly interdependent house of cards, it's a great army... I sort of like Morsbane in this army, but Chardris gives you much-needed redundancy with Arkmer and Jorhdawn. I prefer WoAx2 to either, but Ulginesh can't activate them.
VERY LATE EDIT: Two more monoliths that (sort of) work:
480 Wolves of Badru/Shaolin Monks x6
480 points, 18 hexes
Two very unusual units that I've never seen or heard of being fielded in large numbers. I suspect the monks would be hopeless and the wolves could be surprisingly playable, but I could be wrong. If you feel like blowing some perfectly good points, you could trade out a squad of wolves for Khosumet.

You're right; they don't work.
I thought about Armocs and rejected them for the same reason. Besides, the value of the Venoc Warlord is in his scout and Frenzy enhancements, so you really need somethong other than Armocs to take advantage of him. |

Steam Roller doesn't work because you have to put at least 1 OM on Sparticus for the inspiration to work and with-out that, Steam Roller is broken.

Just put the X on Spartacus. That's how it's done.
