"Let's go buy the latest Heroscape release." If feels so good to be able to say that.

AGE OF ANNIHILATION: Vanguard Edition is live on Hasbro Pulse, Hasbro's version of Kickstarter. You can go there now to pledge your support for the newest Heroscape master set, which looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! New units, new factions, new terrain, and exclusive promos!

Nearly 1000 people have already pledged their support, so if this sounds interesting to you (and I know it does!) go to the Pulse website and check it out! There are lots of great pictures and information there.

If this really takes off, there are even stretch goals available. Who wants more Sgt. Drake Alexander? I do! and I bet you do too.

I did my duty and backed the max, now if this does not get funded, there will be no more new Heroscape, thats how Haslab works. If it is backed it will lead to future cheaper expansions. So back it!!

I just checked the Hasbro site. This has been live for a little while now and it doesn't look like it's going to be funded. All this excitement might have been for nothing. Only a few weeks left and not even at 40% funded. I really thought this would have been fully funded the first week.

With over 2 weeks left, let's not be all doom and gloom just yet.

Get your money in and leave it in, then we shall see what happens.

I do not know how hard and fast they are about needing 8k backers. 2mil funding goal without really having any advertising and just expecting Heroscapers to fund this isn't a great formula for success.

Bar was set to high, and lack of advertising = sad face.

Epic Fail….
Waaaaay too much money and neon
colored figures. Who wants to spend
$250 bucks and then not like the game?
Terrible way to attract a new generation
of players! That was one of the great things about Heroscape, you could buy a little at a time and you could buy what you wanted…
Did they even do a survey?
“ How much would you be willing to
pay for a Heroscape base set?”
Survey says! Not $250!

I am still hopeful, I know it’s a lot but if you bought this much content of previous sets now you are looking at 4 or 5 times the cost of this new offering. And unpainted minis are better than no minis!! Also this isn’t random like many games we know what is in the box and future plans are already in the works, but I suppose to some that no new content (Ever!) is better than large amounts of Terrain and new figures added to their collection. I realize it is a lot to pay, but this is literally an all or nothing situation. And yes I have already made my pledge weeks ago, it’s tough but worth it, heroscapes very survival depends on us and we need all hands on deck to make this happen! Long live Valhalla and long live Heroscape’s return!

No it wouldn't have been that much. The amount of terrain we get is on par with a Master Set, $40 to $50. The trees and bushes would have been the same as a Jungle. $20 or $25. And that is with figures not painted which I think is what killed Magic the Gather Plainwalkers of the Arena which was basically Heroscape. All this at the time of release for sets.

$250 is way too much. At most, we would have paid $150 and that is with painted figures. I was excited for this, but as soon as I saw the unpainted figures, the story that has been completely demolished, and price. I knew this wasn't going to work. Especially with Dungeons and Dragons making a comeback and the internet tools. On top of all of that, it was terrible timing. Plus you can buy unpainted minis for a very small amount. Very few people are willing to spend so much on something like this. The Heroscape community isn't as big as it used to be. Most people probably haven't even heard about it, unless they have been part of the community since D&D Heroscape.

I feel like this was Hasbro's way of killing Heroscape off for good. An insane price tag and then an unreachable target mark. If it had worked, they would put the bare minimum work into it and then charge triple the price it used to be. Not to mention they make the figures look huge when they are really small.

Actually if you count the terrain it is more than double the original master set which now Sells for $180 used at least, ticalla jungle is $280 new, and the castle set goes for $110. Also 71 figures is equal to 2 full waves from before and the figures are the same scale as before. And a full wave now goes for like $270, so that would be like $1200. Your not going to see 2010 prices for anything nowadays. Also look at heroquest, I got the mythical tier and it cost $190 and there are a lot less figures and a regular game board 2 years ago. The only difference in these figs is they are unpainted because of the cost of painting figures now. China has come a long way in 10 years. Heroclix is $15.00 for 5 random figures, so for a painted set of figures alone it would have made the set cost $213 just for figs and the terrain is plastic too so yeah the pricing is not inflated, maybe a smaller set and a tier purchase system might have worked better but they tried to give us a huge set and a great deal, shame on them! Even unpainted mini’s cost $5-$8 a piece now. And if Hasbro had wanted to kill off Heroscape they didn’t have to do a thing, it was already dead!! Do I want unpainted figs no, but I will work with it to have the greatest game of all time return, even if it is a bit pricey to relaunch it. Again a rally cry to all… Long live Valhalla!! Help Heroscape have a triumphant return!!

Rise of the Valkyrie only has a few more tiles + a few more hexes than Vanguard Edition. However, the walls and jungle add quite a bit of appeal. It took about a year and a half of Heroscape releases to get to 71 figures. I added up the cost of buying that many boosters + a castle + a jungle + RotV and the price was well over $200. And that doesn't factor in increased production costs, inflation, etc. since the 2004-2010 era (those factors are part of what drove Scape out of business the first time).

There is plenty to criticize with how this set was done, but the idea that there isn't $250 in value in the set is patently false.
