Live dangerously. Rebase your figures.

By now this pic has gone the Heroscaper's equivalent of viral. It's a giant demon lord, how could you not like it? But for all it's popularity I'm really not happy with the rebasing job. It was one of my earliest, and I learned a lot from it. So here's all of my rebased figures with explanations on how I did them. Note that this is not to show off my photography skills or for people with irrational aversions to glue.

The Balor. The most famous of my customs, but also one of my first rebased figures. I simply took a pair of wire cutters and cut around the feet, leaving the base under them. I then glued the figure to the base. Today I would have cut the off with a knife, the cutters, or sanded them off. I was worried about ruining the feet. I've considered redoing several times, but I don't have a large base in decent condition, so for now I'm fine with it as is. ...

I'm one of them, and I'm proud of it.

Maybe it's because Heroscape was the only game I played, maybe it's because I'm sure to get plenty of physical exercise, maybe I'm completely nuts. Actually I am completely nuts, but that's not the point. Up until now I've always had a reason/excuse for why I wasn't quite as nerdy as the next guy. Until a few months ago. I don't know what brought it on, but suddenly, and I mean literally overnight. I was comfortable with my geek habits. And not only comfortable, proud. I was able to stand up and say. This is what I like, take it or leave it, and I did. I enjoy games, I always have. It started when I was eight years old and bought my first pack of yugioh cards. Then when I was twelve and was given my first Rise of the Valkyrie master set for Christmas. For some reason I always made an excuse. Heroscape isn't that nerdy. It's got simple rules. Lot's of stuff like that. I'm past that now, and this was literally overnight. And what better way to celebrate my newfound acceptance than with a...

Life is good.

Posted September 22nd, 2010 at 11:27 PM by Chardar
It's pretty obvious that I like Heroscape. Look at the name of the website, then back to this blog. The fact that I even have a blog means I like Heroscape enough to become a site supporter, but that's not what this blog is about. I wanted to show off what I do when I'm not on here, playing heroscape, or sleeping.

Photography.

Photography is a major hobby of mine. I'm pretty particular about my pictures, as you might have noticed from my images on the site. For every picture you see me post there's another five or so that just didn't make the cut. I take pictures of anything, but I specialize in wild animals. Believe it or not they sit still better than domestic animals. Here's a couple of pictures I've taken over the years.

This is in response to this post. This blog is best read while listening to the Sixth Sense soundtrack.

You could probably easily take an exacto knife to your old bases if you don't mind mutilating them.
GASP! .....mutilating 'Scape figures.......

......stagger.....I need a Scotch, neat, quickly.......
We all marvel at the wonder of some of this site's modified figures, but we never stop to think about what goes on behind the scenes. The frightening truth behind those amazing customs...

You see the poor helpless mini being cut up into tiny pieces to satisfy the bloodthirsty scaper...

Did I make the first Valkrill custom?

Posted September 19th, 2010 at 08:24 PM by Chardar
Earlier today I did a remake of my Bone Captain custom with wording fixes and a higher quality image. That may not seem like much, but I also made a major change. Bone Captain now fights for Valkrill. I don't know why he made this change. Maybe he thought the Death Knights were classier than the zombies? They do dress better anyway.

After posting this I realized that I hadn't seen a Valkrill custom yet. So did I make the first ever published Valkrill custom unit? If you made a carded custom before 1:00 pm on September 19th please speak up. I'm not trying to take credit that isn't mine, but I'm kind of excited. I've never been first for anything like this before.
