Champions of the Forgotten Realms - Preview 1

Posted February 3rd, 2010 at 11:02 AM by truth
Well it's Wednesday, and for the next month here at Heroscapers.com, humpday means new info!

We're just under a month and a half until the release of Heroscape Collection D1: Champions of the Forgotten Realms

Champions of the Forgotten Realms is a standard expansion set containing 4 packs. 3 packs contain Common/Uncommon figures, and 1 pack contains Unique figures. All 4 packs contain a brand new Treasure Glyph for use on your battlefields.

Warriors of the Ghostlight Fen
Common Pack
Includes 1 Uncommon Utgar Hero that strikes fear into any adventuring party and is affectionately referred to by some of our playtesters as "the Lawnmower", 1 Common Utgar Hero that launches frenzied attacks from watery depths, 1 Common Utgar Squad that has been tormented into almost forgetting where their allegiance once stood, and 1 Temporary Treasure Glyph.

Fury of the Primordials
Common Pack
Includes 1 Uncommon Aquilla Hero who enjoys grabbing opponents and pulling them right into its venomous sting, 1 Common Jandar Hero that uses the wind to torment those who fly above the battle, 1 Common Aquilla Hero that lurks near the water waiting to strike, 1 Einar Hero that travels underground, 1 Utgar hero that blazes across the battlefield, and 1 Temporary Treasure Glyph.

Glaun Bog Raiders
Common Pack
Includes 1 Uncommon Jandar Hero that can use the ice around it to heal itself, 1 Common Ullar Squad who can swear loyalty to a new king each battle, 1 Common Utgar Hero with a wild personality and a weapon to match, and 1 Temporary Treasure Glyph.

Heroes of Faerun
Unique Pack
Includes an Aquilla Hero: Morgrimm Forgehammer, 2 Ullar Heroes: Brandis Skyhunter and Sharwin Wildborn, 2 Utgar Heroes: Torin & Estivara, and 1 Permanent Treasure Glyph.

Along with the release in March, we'll have 2 brand new scenarios available online.

Chaos in the Catacombs (3-4 Player Scenario, 2 Master Set map)
This web of shadowy tunnels was once a beautiful and ancient hall dedicated to honoring fallen heroes with lavish gifts. But what does a long-dead hero need with a magic sword? It might as well be yours for the taking!

The River of Blood (2 Player, 4-Room Dungeon Adventure)
The River of Blood is a brand new Dungeon Adventure designed to be played with at least 1 Battle for the Underdark Master Set, and 1 complete set of Champions of the Forgotten Realms.

While this adventure may seem like a simple quest for answers, those that cannot rise to the challenge risk unraveling the alliance of the Valkyrie under a banner of absolute evil!

Check back every Wednesday over the next 4 weeks for a preview of the new releases, figures, and cards, as well as some some sneaky hints on what we have coming down the pipeline in 2010.

Thanks Truth/Guru.

First thoughts:

1. Common heroes galore
2. No Vydar?

Morgrimm Forgehammer, I am guessing, is a Dwarf. It will be very nice to have some more Aquilla either way. Thanks for the spoiler.

Commence speculation anew!

Ollie: all people asked was if there was "More Vydar love coming" not if it was coming now.

Vydar is getting some really awesome figures, just not in this wave. The next wave is heavy with Vydar.

Thanks for the preview! I wonder if the Tundra set will be reprinted soon, since one of the figures seems to have a power dependant on ice. That would be very nice!

Sounds like Aquilla getting a new dwarf hero, Ullar's getting 2 new elves and still no love for Vydar

It wasn't a complaint, more an observation. I'm happy with Vydar continiuing to get a small number of "really awesome figures"; after all, that has been his summoning MO for a while.

It was just a first thought because that's what I was looking for.

Is the lack of a common/uncommon designation on the Einar hero in Pack 2 a deliberate holding back of info, or is there a little more we can squeeze out of you?

Looks good! Vydar waits again, but good additions for Aquila and Ullar, and lots of common/uncommon heroes so hopefully will see some good bonding strategies.

Looks like the Wyvern will be one of the Primordials.
I'm betting that the 'Lawnmower' is the Bloodrager Troll from the Dangerous Delves set.

Looks like we will have an entirely new selection of uncommon heroes! Can't wait. I can't wait to see if they will follow the "Feral Troll" with higher point values or the "Swog" and "Dumutef" with the near powerless stats.

It seems that HERO is returning to HEROscape. I wonder how many of them will see play compared to the common squads we are already attached to.
