Ibaraki-doji Solo Tests

As a part of crunching out Ibaraki-doji once we discovered that the Oni Night Haunter sculpt did have the availability for a submission, @Leo Ultra wanted to run several solo tests against other heroes in the 120 point range to see how they compared. Given that these tests are smaller in nature than full games, I've combined them into one post to reduce the number of blog entries that I'm uploading today.

Ibaraki-doji vs. Siege
Round 1, Initiative Ibaraki.
Ibaraki turn 3: SA 2 skulls vs 2 shields, SA 1 skull vs 1 shield
Siege turn 3: 3 skulls vs 1 shield, Ibaraki takes 2 wounds.

Round 2, Initiative Ibaraki
Ibaraki turn 1: Normal attack 3 skulls vs 5 shields.
Siege turn 1: Normal attack 3 skulls vs 1 shield; Ibaraki reduced to 3 life.
Ibaraki turn 2: SA 2 skulls vs 1 shield; Siege takes 1 wound. SA 1 skull vs 3 shields.
Siege turn 2: Normal attack 2 skulls vs 2 shields.

Yokai vs. Varkaanans

This was another early game, where Captain Stupendous offered to help out with testing the Yokai against some Varkaanans. Jealousy that Bahadur is so much better than Masha Shingai ensued.

TICALLAN TOWER by Sir Heroscape
No glyphs.
Astro: Abe no Seimei (130), Masha Shingai, Kincho (60), Nure Onna (70)
Captain Stupendous: Varkaanan Quickblades, Varkaanan Swiftfangs, Bahadur, Brute Gruts (365)

Versions of Yokai Used
Note: Nure Onna was played with only being able to attack once per revealed OM. No other changes were made to her yet.

SURVIVING UNITS:
2x Swiftfangs, 2x Quickblades, 4x Brute Gruts, Bahadur (unwounded)

GAME SUMMARY:
Nure Onna started off strong in the first round, killing 2 Swiftfangs at the end of the round as the Varkaanans coalesced around Masha, who had Shapeshifted into position. She was then cornered on the next turn, though, and struggled...

Yokai vs. Honor Guard

This was another early game of the initial Yokai faction that I had run. This was closer to where I started learning just how weird and game-warping Shapeshift could be, and the amazing ways to mess with your opponent through it.

VOLCARREN PARADISE by Robber
No glyphs or special scenario rules.
Astro: Masha Shingai, Abe no Seimei (130), Kincho (60, 3L/4D), Nure Onna (70) (370)
Dawn: Honor Guard of the Blasted Lands x4, Akumaken (370)

GAME SUMMARY:
Dawn won initiative and led Akumaken into the fight. Meanwhile, I decided to overextend with Nure Onna, nabbing height through the central water to attack down on him with four attacks of 4, dealing 4 wounds and taking no Counter Strike damage. Dawn then engaged Nure Onna with the Honor Guards, but failed to deal any damage. My next turn, I had a fully-charged Nure Onna...

Yokai vs. Raptorians

This was one of the earlier tests that I ran of the Yokai as a whole (the first published post in this category is actually the most recent one, truth be told :embarrassed. The most notable change from their latter incarnations is Nure Onna, who was recently significantly redesigned.

No glyphs. Played with special Healing Waters scenario rules from the map instructions.

This is another older post of Kincho that I had made before reducing his price and life and continuing testing for his SoV submission. It is simply maintained here for posterity.

Leo: Kinchо̄, Master Lao Xin, Yi Feng, Shaolin Monks x2 (450)

GAME SUMMARY:
Leo’s Monks lept over the moats within their hearts by the starting zone while I began using Arashara Goshiri to shift my Sacred Band without only relying on the bridge. Unfortunately, I made a critical error in forgetting that Lao Xin can do whatever he wants in regards to Monk turns, so Leo nabbed Valda with Yi Feng and then got his 11 move Shaolin Monks into striking distance on much of my forces. I luckily only lost 1 Sacred Band, but it took several turns to properly retaliate and clear out the monks. Leo had his OM3 on Kinchо̄, which stopped...
