"The eyes of your emperor are upon you." So spoke Napoleon to his Old Guard infantry, the solid, indefatigable force that formed the backbone of the 19th century French army. The Old Guard formed the emperor's bodyguard, a potent tactical reserve that was to be unleashed if the battle turned south. Napoleon knew the value of a solid force, ready to protect vital assets and become the ultimate reserve...And you should too. However mundane the task, guards fulfill an important mission: keeping something, or someone, safe. Heroscape - Back to the Basics

Posted July 5th, 2010 at 03:51 PM by Filthy the Clown
I am relatively new to Heroscape. My wife surprised me for X-mas 2009 by giving me Master Set 1. What a gift it was! We have played numerous games with MS1, and I would go so far as to consider it akin to cheap couples therapy. Soon afterwards, a google search led me to this forum, where I have enjoyed reading posts from other heroscapers who have a passion for this fun game. I have since augmented my heroscape collection with other figures and terrian expansion sets. However, my wife has lost some of the passion for this game, and I finally extracted her answer as to why.

There is now too much heroscape in our house.

What used to be a simple process (select an army from the cards of MS1, set up a map, and have some fun) takes much longer. When drafting, it takes 5 minutes just to lay all of the cards out on the floor, let along peruse them and draft an army. Plus, it takes time just to pick through the figures and find one's army. Not a big deal...
