Heroscape is a skirmish game- meaning that it uses few figures and many of them are individuals (heroes). My family’s version of Scape has evolved into something midway between a skirmish game and large army game (like WarHammer). We field fairly large forces sometimes but love our heroes too. We recently tried out the new Kings of War ruleset available for free online, and although we enjoyed the game, the next day we were back to our SylvanoScape- so it seems we are happy in the middle. Because of the size of our campaigns we have been using catapults for a long time now. When we started playing our really big games that go for weeks and use maps, we needed siege engines to help us against the castles. (although fliers are always very helpful too).

There were no catapults around then (unlike the D and D trebuchet in Lords of Madness, or the great customs here...
