Nhsd 2008!

Posted September 7th, 2008 at 03:03 PM by CheddarLimbo
GenCon is over, and October is only a few weeks away. That means the countdown to National Heroscape Day can commence!

October 18th (and in some locations the 19th) will have people all across the nation and globe playing Heroscape together in a celebration of the greatest game ever made.

The biggest news this year is that it looks like Wizards of the Coast is interested in formalising thourneys both by using the DCI ranking system used for other WotC games, and more importantly with prize support! That's right, folks, you can actually start winning cool prizes for playing Heroscape!

R˙chean is hosting the NHSD Hexes in Texas tourney for the Dallas/Fort Worth area this year, and it looks like it's going to be an amazing event.

To spice things up, R˙chean had Truth roll a D20 and report the score. Using a formula, that value determined the army point total for the event. Truth scored an 18, meaning army point totals will be 540 this...

Blog of Random Stuff: Gamer's Reunion Armies, Part 2

Well, I'm back for another seemingly meaningless blog post when it's right next to truth's on the list.

So anyway, today I was talking to Billtog on AIM, and he told me an interesting army, which obviously wasn't that interesting since I don't remember it. Not the point, but I remember it had Aubriens and Arkmer in it. That got me thinking. Arkmer is good with short range, and so are Aubriens. He's also good when people engage him. So are Ashras. So now the problem. How in the world do I move these guys? I mean, 18 squad members and a hero? NO WAY, is this army very mobile. But wait! Emirroon! I have 100 points to spare, and Emirroon is 80! 20 points of filler...Isamu/Otonashi? Tricky personalities are there...no. How 'bout Marcu? No, his chance of attacking me is still pretty good. Kyntela! She'll boost Arkmer and make the Ashra's even more deadly...or harder to make dead. So, Elf Horror:
Aubriens x3
Ashra x3
Emirroon
Kyntela...

Speed Custom Poll #14

Yet another custom project by SuperflyTNT - the Boneyard of Despair. This is a completely original work, and was inspired by the Zombie Horde. I was going to be using Runa as the 'Queen' of the area and was going to add a bit more detail, but I misunderstood the instructions on the rules thinking that only one ARMY CARD was to be the subject. Looks like I am doing alright - at this writing I am in second place with votes.

The graveyard is almost 100% original sculpture and paint - I got the walls from a "Christmas Village", you know - the kind that old people put up at Christmas time to remind them that the world once was a simpler place. Everything else is 100% sculpted and hand painted with custom color mixes - some airbrushings, mostly small-brush freehand.

Personally, my favorite parts of the whole set are the tree, since it's so creepy looking, the stone casket because the little dead guy inside really does look pretty desicated and nasty,...
