Gesta Fabulatoris: Renovatio

Renovatio

Hello fellow Heroscapers!

For those who may not have been acquainted with me back when I was an active forum poster 11 years ago, my handle is Majora's Incarnation, and I've been playing Heroscape since it first came out in 2004

To note, the initial inspiration for starting up an HS.com blog again was my attendance at ScapeCon II, as I wanted to find a place to frame my perspective on such a magnificent collaborative effort.

Then August 3rd rolled around with the announcement of the new Age of Annihilation, and in many instances, such a coincidence would often give off the sentiment of fate or destiny. I find it incredibly fitting to take the time and revisit my old haunts and try to get back to the work of promoting this fantastic game once more.

So for starters, let's revisit my timeline and see what's happened since:

A development of self-awareness

I find it surreal that...

A Reflection on Heroscape Fandom/Belated NHD Post

Posted October 22nd, 2016 at 04:10 PM by Majora's Incarnation
Hello all, MI here,

I wanted to wish everyone a belated National Heroscape Day! I couldn't take the time out to post something about it as I was in Las Vegas the previous week attending the 2016 Final Fantasy Festival at the Paris.

Looking at the time and how it's passed in the span of Heroscape's introduction to the tabletop gaming markets, its discontinuation, and its maintained existence through its fans hitting up to 6 years now of a thriving fandom, it brings back memories of my first Heroscape purchase in 2004.

I was very young, probably 10-11 or so when I first saw the game. It was the fantastic cover art that spoke to me first. Specifically, it was the stand-offish idea that it presented of a dinosaur, a dragon, WWII soldiers, and an odd skeletal alien with a laser gun (that's what I knew them as before I knew the name Marro) locked in combat.

Several lawns mowed later I acquired the funding to buy the set and invited...

Announcement: New Heroscape Wiki Admin

Posted February 26th, 2016 at 07:50 PM by Majora's Incarnation
So today I was attempting to go through my routine check-ups of email accounts during my work hours (when I have no customers of course)

Seeing that Yahoo had 8 new emails I was wondering what was the sudden increase in my inbox, so I checked.

Turns out someone from the Wikia staff looked into my request to adopt the Heroscape wiki and went ahead and changed my user rights, as well as the user rights of the previous admins.

So, unceremoniously, I have now become the new administrator to the Heroscape wiki. And working to improve the content from its broken and very opinionated edits.

I'd love to hear suggestions if anyone may have any.

~Saludos

A blog post theme I'm considering...

Posted February 24th, 2016 at 06:51 PM by Majora's Incarnation
So I've frequently pondered on the purpose of a blog and how to use one in expressing myself. In particular, having access to an exclusive Heroscape blog page makes me want to focus this area on Heroscape information.

So what thought could I share to people about a game that only lives through its fanbase, that specifically breathes the word myself into it?

Namely, what could stay alive for some time that will allow me to update it?

The idea came to me when I was adding categories to pages in the much disheveled HeroScape wiki page.

I looked and saw that much of the personality entries were written by a previous editor and was currently using a descriptive sentence that could/could not be argued to be a bias understanding of what that personality means.

And as I sat there, adding more categories and seeing more and more of these sentences, I thought:

"Why did the original design team create...

Hello 'scapers,

It's been a grand while since I last posted on these pages. Various reasons kept me away for some time. And, by a feat of grand design, I find myself back.

And now I support the site.

Why on earth after so long would I just randomly do that?

Perhaps it's just that. Random. Straight out of the blue.

But given that most characters I play are not chaotic, I figure I'd have a reason behind my decision.

I long to begin a career as an individual writing for all to see worlds of intricate craft and powerful symbolism. I want to write stories that cause introspection as well as admiration. Fantasy, more than just an outlet for me, is my voice to the world. The thing I wish to use to - in the words of a very wise man - be the change I wish to see.

And Heroscape was the door to that dream.

It inspired in me so much creativity, opened a concept I had hardly considered...
