C3V Wave 15: Week 4

C3V Public Announcements Thread
This is where you can go to get started with C3V (Classic Customs Creators of Valhalla): Welcome to C3V!!!.
This thread lists all the units C3V has released: C3V Books of Index.
Elaria the Pale
First we have Elaria the Pale. When we first saw the release information about the new series of Pathfinder pre-painted miniatures coming out, we got dizzy with excitement. The heroes in the starter set were beautiful, and Elaria had tons of theme already bursting out of the figure.
With all those throwing knives on Elaria's back, a ranged attack was a must. Elaria is also hard to catch: she always slips right through your fingers. Since she is the Queen of Thieves, she needed an ability that could help fellow Rogues, but with only one other Rogue in the game so far, we decided instead that her ability would help Tricky figures. Utgar finds this pale Elven outcast and plucks her from Toril so that her luck can rub off on his Army.

Martial La Hire
Martial La Hire had a beautiful mini, and we knew right away we wanted to have him come from Earth, to help fill out Einar's historical units.
Martial La Hire is a French brawler who is always ready for a good fight (and a good drink). Unfortunately for him, he has trouble controlling himself in the heat of battle, resulting in not just a single powerful swipe, but two, if his first blade isn't blocked. This can mean any number of things in a battle: devastation for your enemy, or some damage to an ally who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Arashara Goshiri
Arashara Goshiri has a keen mind for battle, but she is overlooked by her superiors. After she is lost in a sandstorm, Einar sees her potential and brings her to Valhalla to help lead his armies. Einar gives her the power to shift the battle in his favor with an ancient artifact, the Eagle of Einar, and places her in a position to lead.

Myrddin
Myrddin is a powerful wizard from Toril, who can call upon the powers of the storm and bring down bolts of lightning upon his foes with his Lightning Strike Special Attack.
But more awesome than this, Myrddin has tapped into the mystical magicks of old, and with this eldritch power he can alter probabilities and shape reality to his will ... at the cost of his own lifeforce.

The last glyph in this wave is a Treasure Glyph: the Gem of Lava Resistance. This treasure helps level the playing field on a map with Hot Lava Death.

That's all for Wave 15 (CV2), but Wave 16 is already underway, as is a Large Expansion Set. Visit our Public Playtesting thread to help make those releases happen sooner.

Awesome heroes! I'm liking the 20-sided die bonuses and the third 200 point price-tag for Einar. Shifting Sands sounds strategically game-changing and it must be for that cost. C3V FTW!

Thanks Grish, and thanks to countless fans who have posted on these home pages and elsewhere, and many thanks even to those who lurk and buy and enjoy.
We have plenty more in the pipeline and I'm excited to deliver you all another mountain of Scapey goodness. Thanks again to our public playtesters, and to my fellow members of the C3V. |

A question on Arashara - would land spaces mean a height 1 tile (rock, grass, sand, concrete, swamp, lava), and exclude height 0 tiles (water, swamp water, ice, molten lava), or is it based on the color of the tile - ie. does not wotk on sand tiles?

Yes it works on all : land spaces (rock, grass, sand, concrete, swamp, lava field),

The PDF of the GoLR needs to be fixed-it says Heroes of Paziun while it should say Dwarf and Soulborgs.
Even after playtesting her (and seeing that she certainly is), I still cannot fathom just how Arashara is worth the points. I like that, after I sent in my playtests, the C3V changed Myrddin's SA from Range 5 to 6. Gives me a logical reason to choose him over Heirloom or Johnny, whom I had said would make him very little used. Great job, everyone. |

I think one of the reasons for Arashara's large point cost is her bonding options. Romand and Greeks are cheap enough that you can create an army based around bringing targets into range with her, then swarm them with Soldiers. A bit fragile though...

Great job C3V! Wave 15 was amazing.
The large expansion is confirmed! Woohoo! |

Arashara is a swingy Unit that is worth her points most of the time...but sometimes she is not. We tested her over and over again, and in most instances we could not make her cheaper...because her Einar Armies dominated too much at lower costs. She is one of my favorites of ths wave and so much fun...especially when you shift Raelin from her perch righ t into a spot surrounded by Sacred Band and then proceed to pound her into pulp.

Mystic Sacrifice rocks. Kee-Mo-Shi, Su-Bak-Na and Myrddin would be a fun army to play.
I think Arashara is worth her points. MDG/Parmenio Arashara Goshiri Romans x4/Greeks x4 Held it own versus some fairly tough armies during playtesting. |

Arashara can definitely be worth her points. Shifting Sands can be used to pull back cheerleading figures, ranged figures from behind a screen, and many other things that generally hurt the melee armies that Arashara will be played in.
Note: theoryscape, I'm not a playtester. |

Myrrdin - oh man.
Sudema.... Runa.... Cyprien..... And I haven't even got to the big one.... DEADEYE DAN! Him and Myrr can just sit in the starting zone and kill anything with a 17 from 10 spaces away. Nasty. |
