Kee-Mo-Shi and Prayer

Posted June 4th, 2008 at 12:38 PM by NamibianScaper
When we first bought Heroscape, I thought I would be the one using Marro all the time. This is because I thought the family wouldn't think they were "cool" and they would be the only units left. If I remember right, I think that is what happened until I won a game or two with them. Now they are some of the most popular units in our family.

My son's favorite unit is by far Kee-Mo-Shi.

He just loves the mind shackle ability. I don't know why he's not as drawn to Ne-Gok-Sa because he usually takes over minds on rolls of 20. Perhaps it's her faster movement. Also, he does not yet know that the Shades of Bleakwoode exist. I plan to keep it that way at least until October.

I once played against him with an all Ullar army. He was down to Kee-Mo-Shi alone vs. 4 of my units. He dodged arrows all the way to my side of the board, eliminated Syvarris and took over the minds of Saylind, Acolarh, and Kyntela Gwyn in 3 consecutive turns.

He has won against both my wife and I multiple times in 3 player games by simply taking over our most expensive units.

In a recent 2 player game, he took over Charos' mind with almost nothing else left. I thought I was okay because 1) Charos was low on life, 2) I still had Q9 and 3) I had another backup squad figure or two. Then he took over Q9... Gameover.

I have checked Kee-Mo-Shi's card more times than is healthy for a sane person just to see if she can really take over a soulborg's mind. My excuse is that her toxic skin doesn't work on a soulborg and I just want to make sure mind shackle does... every time she walks up to Q9...

My son hardly ever uses Su-Bak-Na with Kee-Mo-Shi. He usually uses her with a mix of other random heroes and squads, Agent Carr being another favorite. Sometimes he takes Brunak to carry her around and forgets about it. Whenever he has used Su-Bak-Na, I don't remember the +1 bonus being a factor.

Why does my son have so much success taking over minds rolling 19s and 20s? In a word: Prayer. He's not pausing to be dramatic when he rolls that D20 against Nilfheim. He's asking for the Lord's help.

Proverbs 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

And it works... most of the time... or at least WAY more than it should statistically speaking.

The only counter I've found to consistently water down Kee-Mo-Shi is to throw some hard-hitting squad figures in her way. It's a safe bet than until she's off the board all 3 turn markers will be on her every round and much catastrophe will ensue. Perhaps when we release those Shades of Bleakwoode into our army pool, I'll be the one to draft them!

Try using spiderman from the marvel set. any time Kee-Mo-Shi's mindshackle fails and your son attacks with her, spidey will probably be able to get away. then hit her with the longer range special attack!

I would have never guessed massive battle in a slightly mideival setting would have much to do with Jesus. As for taking care of Kee-Mo-Shi, I suggest... Zetacron + Venoc Warlord. That way, you have a heavy hitter to take Kee-Mo-Shi out with range, and when she gets too close, just move Zetacron away with his enhanced move.

You may know this already, but Kee-Mo-Shi was designed by a little girl in the design a figure contest held by Hasbro some time ago! Lots of kid appeal. I like her too.
