I use this blog to record data for testing custom figures and sharing my thoughts on the design process before posting the results in my thread.

I don't plan to submit all customs that I'm recording data for into the SoV but I do plan to test any custom that I make thoroughly so that it is enjoyable for others that might want it for their table.

Outcome:

Loss for Hunters that had the potential to go eitherway, Dysole piloted them against my Knights of Weston this time on a map made by Sir_Heroscape. Battle opened up with good raelin placement, Gilbert slow rolling a mass of knights and the battleground being chosen as the choke point in the middle of the map. I didn't commit to one side or the other because I felt like I could just clog up the board, what happened is that the knights took quite a while to cut through the raelin protected hunters and it wasn't until the Kyrie fell that they started to pull ahead. The endgame came down to Gilbert, 4 knights and a Jandar's dispatch of 5 that let me run down the Marro Warriors empowered with Arktos' spirit.

Thoughts:

Dysole noted that the powers on the cards are straight forward, the movement stat is fun to play with and that the abilities gave room for a lot of different but important decisions. She talked for a bit about if the unit was broken and if Himmelskralle would have impacted this game at all, the consensus was no because the knights are solid with 4 defense. From the discussion the unit seems to be fun, looks to be in a good place mechanically and should be tested against the 4th Mass army in particular because they generally don't run a screen of any kind. It is a solid thought at this point in time that while melee is not the best matchup for the Hunters to go against, screens like rats are even worse because the Hunters would be tied up and lose their protection against range.

Howl came into play 5 times during this game, sometimes to set up for a move and second attack with the same figure but mostly to develop and get 3 to 4 attacks to try and stave off the knights. Stalker did not come into play during this game, my only figure that had range was not activated during this game. The decision to lower the attack stat of the Hunter down to 3 seems to be good but they still seem to be able to hold their own and create some meaningful interaction given their price point at 25 points a figure.

Moving forward with the suggestion to test against a 4th Mass army soon, also moving forward with the suggestion to ask others to play the unit when possible. New thoughts, playstyles and decisions lead to good data about the unit and it reveals if it is fun or appealing to other players which should definitely be noted.
