I just opened my D3 this afternoon.

I've played some games, and looked at some of the figures.

My opinions:

Death Chasers of Thesk:
The Orc Battle Rush is really interesting, and it gives them a huge advantage, especially on smaller maps. The bonding doesn't provide too many people to bond with, but the ones they do bond with work just fine. Their offensive capabilities are amazing, and they're extremely cheap.

Horned Skull Brutes:
They kind of seem like an elite squad. 4/4 provides them with staying power and the ability to destroy most foes. Their Barge Into Battle didn't get used much, but I'm anxious to try it out. With their other power (name eluding me), it was great, as it prolonged their lives even further.

Ice Troll Beserker:
Awesome theme, but he does seem a little small. He's also a bit fragile for his appearance, even on a snow map. (3 DCoT killed him in one turn.) However, his charge is pretty scary, especially on a snow map. The regenerate didn't really get used, with a low life, he doesn't normally stay around long enough to use it much.

Frost Giant of Morh:
Interesting figure. The Dying Swipe was pretty interesting, as it gave you more certainty of wounding/killing figures. The Battle Frenzy was also interesting, as it gives him more offensive output. He is pretty tough, but, IMO, he should have more lives looking at his size. Indomitable is easy to forget about for both players, and can cause some nasty suprises.

Death Knights of Valkrill:
Really good against the Warriors of Ashra with Soul Weapons. I would like it if they had flying, but they're awesome as they are. Although they are just two figures in a squad, their bonding helps and high defenses allow them to withstand multiple attacks. (Unless your luck is like mine. )

Eltahale:
I haven't gotten around to playing with her yet, but she seems like a solid hero with good attack/durability.
Now just got in a game. She's really fast and strong, and could zoom around the board cleaning up. The Thunder Step is extremely useful for climbing hills and crossing rivers.

Siege:
Really awesome miniature. He seems really tough, with 5 life, and 5/5. With Crag of Steel, 3/8 and whirlwind attack, making him extremely tough. He really lives up to his Juggernaut class.

Ogre Pulverizer:
I don't really like the Lumbering Bully, as it decreases the amount of times you'll want to attack. His toughness and high attack values help though. I do prefer using him with the DCoT, and then he's pretty awesome. (5 attacks of 4!)

Mezzodemon Warmongerers:
With the exoskeleton, they can be deadly in numbers. With the poison cloud, IMO, it makes up for the lack of attacks. Their low point cost helps also. (Definitely getting more beyond the 3 cases I ordered.)

Moltenclaw:
Pretty awesome, if large for his base. His size does restrict where he can move, but his Burning Breath really affects opponent's figure placement. Overall, pretty awesome. His 5 attack is also pretty devastating to heroes.

Master of the Hunt:
With Mortal Strike, a good roll can be devastating, so he's a good hero killer. Unfortunately, there aren't too many heroes in a standard tournament. Although in drafts, I think his usefulness will go up. (Also decent against Zelrig.)

Evar Scarcaver:
Extremely scary unit once the wounds start. In a game I just played, Moltenclaw put on 4 wounds, and he was rolling 6/7. (Fortunately a Mezzodemon took him out the next turn.) Very unpredictable and interesting to use.

Anyway, I think I've gotten them all.
These are just my opinions, and if they change after some more play, I'll update this blog.

Even with the few commons in this wave, I can't really see myself wanting multiples of anything If anything it would probably be the Mezzodemons like you said.

This wave is awesome. The two units I don't care for are the Horned Skull Brutes, and the Ice Troll. Everything else was awesome.

This wave definitely had the Uncommons that were least necessary to double up on. The squads however, I got 4 of all of them. I really think you need the 4 of the 2 man squads, and I'm glad I got them. Its fun having 8 Mezzodemons out there will exoskeleton markers.
I think Master of the Hunt is underrated thus far. His special ability is perfect for taking down Q9. If you get a wound on Q9, he only has 4 life, so any bonus wounds on top of that takes him down all that much faster. He (Master of the hunt) does suffer from having a high price tag for a single attack.

Hm. I've been unimpressed with Evar so far. Eltahale is truly awesome. Not to impressed with Bugbears either, but then again, I only have 1x Cutters.

I do hate playing against the Death Knights, and the DCoT bonding with Nerak is a formidable offensive force.

I share your feelings about the Ice Troll Beserker. He looks like my kind of unit and I really want to play him, but he needs some more life. The defense would be fine and would fit the Troll theme but he needs 5 or 6 life. 85 points could be gone in one attack. I don't like the Frost Giant at all. The powers don't really appeal to me and I absolutely hate his sculpt, which basically looks like he's in the middle of falling over.
