TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #57

No, I'm not back.

I've been wanting to update you on what's been going on, but I haven't been able to for two reasons: Things keep changing, and I myself don't really know what's happening or where I'll be in the next weeks.

I can tell you what I DO know, however.

The college plan is still there, but it has been delayed by a year and a half. My current plan is to start with some general courses in the spring (If I can get through this blasted math placement), and then start the program the following fall. All, some, or none of that may happen. Right now I'm just going through all the various application processes and I'll see where I'm at when those are done.

I am not writing. At all. I have some vague ideas for stories, but nothing solid. Additionally, on the few occassions I've sat down to write, things did NOT come together, and I really felt like my attention should be directed elsewhere. So that's what I'm doing.

Oddly though, time away from my fan fiction has diverted my interest into several other fields. I've been getting progressively better ideas for how to write my novels. I think I finally have the setting I want (I've thought that before, of course). I can't actually write anything at the moment of course, but the setting seems to be falling into place.

Random opportunities (meaning alternatives to college) have opened up (or rather, I've realized they were there). I've been toying with the possibility of designing games, and am going through an online course on Unreal Engine to see where that leads. Website design has also cropped up as something I might want to look into further.

In general though, I don't know where I'm headed. All I can do right now is pursue all avenues available to me and see what sticks. I think I was forced to stop writing for a reason... I just haven't found out what that reason is yet.

How does it look on the fan fiction front? Well, like I said, I'm not writing currently. I CAN'T write actually. Not stories anyway (I can obviously write something like this). Does it look like I'll be returning any time soon though?

No. It doesn't.

That being said though, I don't know where I'll be or what I'll be doing in a week or even a few days from now. I could return to writing. I could never return. I could skip straight to novels. I might never do novels. I just don't know.

That's really what this update boils down to: there is no update. I don't know what's happening, or what I'll be doing. Anything is possible; everything is up in the air.

I am still popping in here every day or so, keeping an eye on the Codex and Fan Fiction forum, and maybe participating in the odd CoN game. But there is no fan fiction coming that I can see.

However, what I can see is known to change drastically. I will keep you updated as I know more. Until then, keep your eyes open.

I'll be interested to see where yer alternatives lead, most notably game design if it's something you can manage to get into (curious to see what you'd do with that).

It is an interesting alternative. It takes a lot to get into of course, and I would still need something else to reliably make money while I learned it. I have had some ideas regarding a game based on the setting of Isadora from HiS though...

~TGRF, still far from being able to create much of anything game-wise.

A bit of an update: following some clarity received in the department of why this whole calamity happened, I'm starting to feel better about writing. At this point I think that I will return to writing in some form at some point, and that that time might be in months rather than years. However, I feel like my mentality towards writing needs to undergo a significant shift before I can begin crafting stories once more. That shift is in-progress. I feel like it will be completed when I get my first solid idea for a story. And again, I feel like that will happen in a matter of months, not years. Possibly weeks (don't count on it though).
