Battle 7: Elf Ambush on the Forest Path

Sorry about the long wait since our last battle. When we were last following our adventurers, they had just reached the base of the mountain. After a short distance the band comes to a fork in the road and the Warforged Wizard departs from the rest of the gang. The warriors, a Human Monk, a Human Archer Samurai, a Human Viking Champion, and a Human Divine Wizard, continue on until they come to a forest.

Before they realize it, they have just walked into an Elf ambush!

As luck would have it, a Dwarf Rogue, hidden from the eyes of the Elves, was lurking behind the Elvin ranks to exact an ambush of his own on the Elves.

The Dwarf Rogue, with the advantage, makes the first strike! As the Elves are distracted, the Heroes see an opportunity to attack. The Viking Champion, going into a barbaric frenzy, charges the Elf archmage and the Monk follows behind him. While his allies charge forward, the Samurai Archer takes aim and launches a dedicated shot at the Elf. The combined attack eliminates the Elf before he has a chance to react.

The Elf ranger retaliates to the Dwarf’s attack while some Elf warriors move forward. Far too agile for the ranger, the Dwarf dodges the attack and thrusts his mighty dagger into the Ranger’s side, landing a critical strike. The Elf ranger is finished.

The Viking Champion, still in a rage, rushes a squadron of Elf archers, while the Dwarf Rogue kills an Elf warrior who was attacking the Viking.

Seeing that the Dwarf is one their side, the Dwarf and the Heroes join decide to join forces. The Elf warriors move forward. One warrior engages the Samurai Archer, but the Monk is able to hold the others off.

Just when things were looking up for the Heroes, the Elf druid steps forward. Using his Rod of Negation, the Druid disables the Human Monk and the warriors quickly surround the crippled Monk. The Dwarf Rogue quickly runs to the Monk’s help.

Being in such a blind rage, the Viking continues slaughtering the Elf archers, not knowing that his allies are in danger.

After the effects of the Rod of Negation the Monk is unable to keep up with the Elves’ agility, and despite the Rogue's assistance, eventually falls.

Having been dealing with Elf warriors of his own, the Samurai Archer falls shortly after.

With the Samurai out of the way, the warriors surround the Wizard.

And with the Monk out of the way, the warriors surround the Dwarf Rogue as well.

While the Rogue and the Wizard are busy with the warriors, the Viking charges the Elf druid and lead archer. The druid used his Rod of Negation to weaken the Viking as well. Left nearly defenseless, the elite archer releases two arrows into the Viking’s body.

The Dwarf Rogue and the Elf warriors exchange strikes of their blades, dodging and parrying each other’s attacks. The Dwarf plunges his dagger deep into the hearts of two of the Elf warriors, but the Dwarf is brought to his knees by the last Elf warrior.

After placing a near-fatal strike on the druid, the Viking Champion falls as well.

With amazing luck and with the assistance of her divine magic to keep herself alive, the Wizard manages to outlast the Dwarf and take out two Elf warriors. But with all other adventurers out of the way, the elite Elf archer steps forward and snipes the Wizard, finishing her off.

The last adventurer has fallen. Does this spell the end of the Heroes and their journey? Find out next time!
