Heroscape is what you make of it. There are RPG variants. There are Massivescape variants, such as the one chas is currently working on. Each of us plays for a different reason, although many of us share elements of each other's vision. Although we have ways of playing that we favor, there is no "right way" to play Heroscape. There are plenty of wrong ones, of course. Cheating, rudeness, eating the last donut, etc., are just a few.

And then there is my way. [Cue orchestra . . . "And, now, the end is . . ." ]

Most of you are aware by now of my idiosyncrasies, the Valhalla Society being the most prominent. My brother was schizophrenic, as was my favorite aunt. I am just fine, however, as you can see from my latest contribution to the GenCon 2011 Main Event Competitive Armies discussion.

The Gang of Four met yesterday to play A Swell Party! I arrived before noon to build the map, using an extravagant amount of chas' terrain. As soon as possible, I will post pictures of the map. Sherman arrived a short time later, bearing the 3 packs of Brutes, the hero pack from the latest wave, and my special Goodwill package - a RotV Master Set, with Sparkly Water, that I bid for and won , at the total price, including shipping, of $28 . Please, don't hate me 'cause I'm lucky ! Taeblewalker was not expected 'til 5:00ish, so we started a 3-player game of A Swell Party!

chas and I played our "B" teams, while Sherman played his "A" team. They were as follows.

chas: Moltenclaw, Kee-Mo-Shi, 2 x Phantom Knights, 1 x Deathchasers

kolakoski: Grimnak, Hydra, Rhogar, Isamu, 2 x Heavy Gruts

I remember, during those Halycon (I wish ) days of my youth, when I was universally hated by my classmates (for good reason, as I was a real $%^hole ), asking in despair, "Why do you all hate me?", and receiving, from the girl next to me, the classic response, "If you don't know, I can't tell you."

Although many, many years have passed since that fateful day, the idea that I am clueless as to what motivates my fellow human beings still lingers.

My friend, chas, has written a series of blogs, full of interesting bits of information based on his many travels and vast knowledge of the true nature of humanity, laid out in a thoughtful, and entertaining manner. His most recent entry, "Unrequited," is an insightful self-analysis, full of wisdom about the human condition, and increasing my already great respect for the man. Yet, for all he can tell from the paucity of comments he has received, his words...
