Hot Iron

Posted April 6th, 2021 at 01:09 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
I am very projected oriented. I like setting a goal, accomplishing it and then setting a new goal and repeating. Itís a system Iíve tinkered with for most of my life and have used it to be productive. And at this moment, I hate it.

I donít like it because it never lets me rest. One thing is finished, time to start more. There are always more ideas, further things to work on. Rest seems like laziness. But I am feeling worn out just now.

I just finished a productive period. I completed nine projects that I was working on. I like working on more than one at a time, that way I donít get bored. Nine didnít seem like too many at the time. But now Iím burned out.

I usually joke with myself that I can last two days before starting something new- a project, a company, anything- and those two days will be filled with endless exciting ideas.

Some of the projects are longer term, covering a couple years. Some are wholly dependent on how...

FFC #69 - The stories which won't leave

Posted March 13th, 2021 at 12:58 PM by The Grim Reaper's Friend
TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #69

In the years I've been writing fan fiction, there have been a lot of ideas I've come up with for stories which - for one reason or another - don't make it. Those story ideas usually fade away as others take their place. But of all the stories I've come up with and failed to write, there are two (well really one) which refuse to go away. They keep nagging me, suggesting that there's more to them than I originally thought, and that they need to be written.

I wanted to share those two (one) story ideas with you, because for now, there's a good chance they will combine to give you the next fan fiction. And no, they won't spoil anything.

The first story was created back in 2017. I had finished aCoS earlier that year, and was casting about for any story which would stick. It would be nearly two years until HiS came around.

One such story I considered was originally the result of this post....

A Rose in the Distance

Posted March 4th, 2021 at 06:18 PM by flameslayer93
Pain. Physical. Emotional.
Felt it all, in the distant past.
The present day.
And again, now the past.
You're a rose in the distance now.
Blessing others in your embrace.
But you had to go.
To get better. I wanted you better.
You fought with the violets in the distance.
You fought with the tulips in the distance.
You're a rose in the distance now.
Every year got harder.
Your petals wilted. Your stem cracking.
I saw the petals fall. Your stem cracking.
I was there. But not the end.
The tulips and the violets were there this time.
They got in the way. Formed a barrier.
I felt them devils.
Though I know they too are flowers.
You became more distanced.
Plagued rainfall came.
Swept you into the distance. You rose.
And now you're a rose in the far distance.
I cannot see you. Only remember you.

Rest in peace, Rose Quinn....

Single Seishin Samurai vs. Horned Skull Q10

Posted March 3rd, 2021 at 05:46 PM by Astroking112
With the recent resurfacing of the Skeletal Samurai sculpt, my passion for the Samurai has seen a resurgence. Now that availability is better, it's even possible to do a single-spawning version of them as had been suggested ~15 months ago, making them a feasible design once more.

HIGH WAYS OR THE HIGHWAY by 1Mmirg
395 Points
Glyphs: Dagmar and Wannok
Astro: Seishin Samurai x6, Tagawa Samurai Archers x3, Raelin
Captain Stupendous: Horned Skull Brutes x3, Major Q10, Marcu Esenwein

SURVIVING UNITS:
Raelin (4 wounds), 3x TSA, 2x Seishin (one was unplaced)
~120 Points Left

GAME SUMMARY:
Capt. S and I both beelined for Wannok, mostly ignoring the left side of the map (he had Marcu, but my best Wannok sponge was Raelin, so I didn't want to leave it uncontested and only had 10 figures on the board to start with, which made spreading out infeasible). I led with TSA of course, and he moved out with...

FFC #68 - The coming of novels

Posted February 25th, 2021 at 08:11 PM by The Grim Reaper's Friend
TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #68

While I've been saying for a few years that I'm nearly ready to write novels, and that I'm working on the last few things I need to fix in my fan fiction, the reality is that I keep writing fan fiction, and my novels remain in the unformed halls of my imagination.

This might lead the inquisitive among you to wonder if, in fact, I will ever stop writing fan fiction, and if I will ever write novels.

The answers to those two questions are 'I don't know,' and, 'yes, I plan to.' While writing fan fiction and novels at the same time is - regrettably - unlikely, I'm not specifically planning on stopping one just because I start the other. But that's far in the future. What I really wanted to mention in this FFC is WHY I am continuing to write fan fiction instead of novels.

I've said before that there are 'things' I want to improve/fix in my writing style before I write novels, and that fan...
