Release of Wave 9 Confirmed for Summer

Posted December 16th, 2008 at 11:27 AM by truth
I recently received an email from Paul Barclay, our lead contact at Wizards of the Coast. Paul had this to say:

Wave 9 is confirmed for Summer 2009. There's no set release date yet, but given the current production schedule, I'd expect it in June or July. There's no guarantee of it being in WalMart, but they've been happy with how Wave 8 has performed so far this holiday season, so that’s looking promising too. And, to be clear, Wave 9 will come out no matter what happens with WalMart.

Happy Christmas!

Thanks,
Paul.

He also included a concept drawing of a marro figure that will appear in Wave 9.

Image of the Week

With Christmas fast approaching (it's less than two weeks away!), we thought it might be good to mention a certain red-suited individual in hopes of getting on his good side and avoiding that accursed coal. (Please bring boosters of Heroscape instead). So here's a nice shout out to Santa, hoping he sees the nice and good things we've done, and turns his head at the bad. This postcard is a simple reminder to let you know he's coming, so you better watch out!

Thread of the Week

To further our voyage into the holiday season, we are highlighting Onion Knight's Secret Santa thread. It was a great way to bring our community together for some festive holiday gift-giving. And who could forget who dat's expression of joy?

Image of the Week

This week's image is brought to us by Mooseman. His image is part of AliasQTip's Heroscape Calendar. If you have some awesome images, from battlefields, to sketches, to photographs, or if you have some funny Heroscape holiday ideas, head on over to help out!

Threads of the Week

Our threads this week have something for everybody, whether they're a left-brain person or right-brain person. For the lefties out there, bmaczero has created a basic tutorial of how to print and assemble paper models. Paper models are usually easier to assemble than the creation of all new custom terrain, such as sportcult's, however, it takes a steady hand to make the precise cuts needed to make seamless terrain.

For the righties, mccombju has gathered numerous data sources, from community discussion, Sisyphus's probability tables, mathguy's matchup...

This week's image is brought to us by Pumpkin_King. We here at the Week @ Heroscapers team are getting into the holiday spirit and making up for last week by having our biggest article yet! So let it commence!

Thread of the Week

When the SotM Master set came out, we eagerly opened it up to find many great new surprises to add to and enhance an already wonderful game. We had new figures in Sonlen, Shiori, the Marro Hive and a couple of multiple common squads. Not to mention the swamp terrain! But also included in the second master set were "updates" to two old favorites from the original Master set, Sgt. Drake Alexander and Raelin the Kyrie Warrior. In Updates to Existing Figures, the discussion abounds as to whether any other figures warrant an update.

Image of the Week:

Our Image of the Week comes to us from Heroscaper Dragonslayer. In the spirit of Autumn and falling leaves, Dragonslayer brings us Dragon Slaying in the Fall. It's an older piece, but colorful nonetheless for the spirit of the season. This and other figure modifications, as well as some great artwork, can be found in the Gallery section. Check out Dragonslayer's wonderful Marvel works as well as contributions from regulars such as Retlaw and Hex_Enduction_Hour.
