Looks like these guys could be a lot of fun. So that is what the description pans out to be. I like the ranged defense bonus, very cool.

This game is beginning to look like Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon...with the Venoc Warlord instead of Kevin Bacon. Think there'll be many scout/viper armies, or roman/scout armies?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

...I looked.

Oh well, they look really cool, even if they are Aquilla. I was certain they would be Ullar.

EDIT: I love the new trend towards melee based ranged figures. The TSA and 10th reg were somewhat melee based, but these guys are really good in melee. Can't wait to use them.

Hey, have they been given a wash? I'm not sure I see it.

Thanks, truth, for posting these previews. I am now even more stoked than I was before.

Time to change my order from 3 squads to 4.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Greetings, everyone.

First of all, Truth, thank you very much for posting these cards. I hope you are able to release at least one card/"combo" per week. It is a much needed breath of fresh air.

As for the units themselves, I think the squad might be over-priced. It is good, but it has a weak hero bond. The need for two units to be engaged in order to move the hero means that, more often than not, he will need an order marker on his card to be activated.

The squad members themselves, in turn, only receive their bonus if they are adjacent to Swift Arrow. Thus, it is very unlikely that they will ever be able to position themselves accordingly in a way that still manages to threaten the enemy forces.

The D20 saving roll for the hero is quite good, but not so for the squad figures. They need to roll a 19 or higher with the "spaces-in-between" boost included. It's a nice thing to have and will no doubt sometimes come through (since it works against special ranged attacks as well), but it's very unlikely and unreliable at best. The squad only has three tribesmen, not four. That's another minus.

Nevertheless, the squad/hero abilities have lots of flavour and are well-considered. This squad looks like it will be a lot of fun to play in non-competitive settings. I predict it will achieve no more than a B+ rating in the power rankings and even that will be due to their (weak) ranged attacks more than anything else. Thanks again, Truth.
