Who are you really?
My name is Danny Ball.
How old are you?
I’m 43.
What is your occupation?
Guitar and bass instructor / music promoter.
What’s the story behind your username?
Every time I play I’m always out for blood! I’m known to play aggressively and with passion.
What are other games you enjoy and why?
Videogames and chess. Why? I suck at everything else. Ha!
What other interests do you have?
Guitars and fishing! I also love Japanese blades (katana swords).
HEROSCAPE
When and how did you get into Heroscape?
Winter of 2006. My daughters and I were in need of something we could do to pass the extreme Ohio winter months. I discovered this game by sheer luck on BoardGameGeek. The rest is history!
Favorite unit (official/custom):
My favorite official is Cyprien! Dude is too much fun. Especially snuffing out a full life Braxas in one turn at a tournament! I rolled a nat 20 and then rolled all skulls while my opponent whiffed on his defense!
My fave C3V is Bramcephys. Dude is worth every single point! I love pairing him with Krug.
Describe your favorite Heroscape moment.
Winning first place at a Dayton, Ohio Heroscape tourney in 2008 when I was starting out. That really set the hook for me.
Is there anything you would change about the game (unit, rule, mechanic, etc.)?
Nope! Well ... the hit zones on almost all of models could use modifying—that’s for sure. Killing a dragon by shooting the wings is ridiculous.
What is your favorite aspect of HeroScape?
The community, and order markers!
COMMUNITY
Can you tell us how you’ve gotten to where you are now in the community?
I’ve been here since 2008 and have recently started hosting tournaments in my area. We were growing a lot until COVID. We were having up to 24+ players in attendance. Almost as good as the glory day of ’Scape!
What do you enjoy most about Heroscapers.com?
The wealth of information on here and all the members that contribute to the site.
What is one customs/community project you’ve stuck with through your time here?
I never got involved with any custom projects ... that can change now that I have more time to play. Let’s see what this quarantine can bring out of me!

Glad you got chosen and nice interview. Thanks for kickstarting the Scape scene in Dayton area, which kickstarted the Michigan scapers and even got me to push Louisville people to continue... that is until the lockdown. Hopefully we will start up again soon.
