Should I break up with my Hot Girl Friend?

Posted June 16th, 2010 at 05:53 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
What a thing to write about!
It sounds like a spam title, donít you think?

But hereís the case: my girlfriend is super nice. Sheís also very good looking. Sheís not a tall skinny broom of a woman, sheís more ... bounteous. Iím a pretty open-minded guy- Iíve tried not to make demands on her one way or the other. Iíve accepted her for whom and what she is and learned to appreciate it.

Now hereís the thing: Sheís always had a nice derriere, in my opinion. Not quite a Kardashian, but as I said before certainly not a broom stick. Nice, curvy, sweet.

Sadly Iím a busy guy, and I donít always get to spend as much time with her as Iíd like.

Anywho, I arrive home the other day and she is there waiting. And her butt is all different. Itís... smaller. Less tapered. I go into shock. Was it liposuction? Intense exercise program? Duct tape? Or just some really serious dictator panties?

First game with Mages

Posted June 12th, 2010 at 03:50 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
You may have read my earlier blog about introducing mages and spell books into our version of Scape, and how uncertain I was about doing this. I mean, we have a pretty good thing going and I donít want to add vinegar to the soup.

Also my daughter is firmly against it. Iím not sure why.

We like ĎScape because the rules are simple- but I guess we have taken that structure and built on it a bit. I think my daughter wants to feel comfortable with the rules as they are before we go into new lands - adding magic- something we were thinking would change things immensely.

So one of the conditions in adding spell books and magic was that it couldnít really change the game in any way- it could be played or not played without any real alteration to the game, figures, or stats.
We had worked on the spell books over a period of weeks and my eldest son had a pretty good prototype ready for our first game.

(My two older...

MegaSilver's Tournament Fantasy

Posted June 9th, 2010 at 06:01 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
I have been daydreaming about going to a tournament and playing Classic Heroscape (good thing I kept all those instruction books so I can learn how to play).

MegaSilver has kindly invited not only me but my entire menagerie to his next tournament. Itís a kind offer, but one weíre not likely to be able to do for A) financial reasons and B) sanity- imagine an eight hour car ride with four children including a three year old in an iffy car.

But Iím not letting that discourage me. Iíve decided to just daydream it all.

Now I donít really know MegaSilver- and I donít want to offend him- so, apologies Mr. MS. I know that heís still a student, so heís younger. So in picturing him I made him on the bigger side (Mega) and Silver haired, and with a friendly welcoming smile.

Rambling on Violence

Posted June 3rd, 2010 at 03:17 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
I recently read a random blog here speculating about the kind of people who are scapers. Iím sorry, I donít remember which blog or the authour, and I couldnít find it again. But I enjoyed it, and it has got me thinking. The blog made some interesting observations Ė and Iíll paraphrase- there are many teachers and churchmen playing this game because scape offers the opportunity to explore war and battle nonviolently in detached intellectual observation-mode, and those particular professional folks donít generally have the opportunity to beat up other people in real life. So they like it.

I may have gotten it all wrong, in fact probably did, but Iím trying to go somewhere with this. Iím just not sure where.

Iím a non-violent guy. Sadly my life has not been as peaceful as one would wish. My childhood could be a film script- non-violent guy has trouble with bad things. I grew up in a rough neighbourhood. The local losers killed our dog and put...

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Heroscape

Posted May 28th, 2010 at 01:59 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
I canít stop thinking about this topic and feel compelled to write about it.

OCD is the short form for ďObsessive Compulsive DisorderĒ. (Each letter represents the word that starts with that letter.)

So many Scapers seem to assign themselves some sort of OCD that I thought I thought I should think about it.

There are people obsessed with certain figures, certain generals, certain themes, certain Societies, but most of all folks seem to talk about their obsessive need to create carefully categorized storage for their ĎScape.

I want to assure all of you that this is perfectly normal in my opinion and even admirable.

Keeping track of information and ideas is what sets apart from the other animals who can't play Scape.

Who, with a pile of terrain and figures, could ever play without it being organized? Can you imagine? Hey guys, come over to my place and weíll play some Scape. And...
