Little blessings

Posted June 16th, 2012 at 08:06 AM by Sylvano the Wasabus
We have been playing almost every day now- a newer game, a three on three 750 point game where we control a small 250 point group on each side.

Weíve been making smaller maps too. We still like big games, but itís the end of the school year and there is much homework and studying and the new job leaves me tired at the end of the day. This game is long enough to be fun but short enough to end before we get too sleepy.

We either play a fight to the death or put out three or four Brandars- the victory condition being you must have a figure on each simultaneously to win.

My younger son has been using the forces of Arc again- they are a human kingdom that worship their elite cavalry. Their renowned blood thirsty leader- Suri of Arc- can give two Arc army cards an additional move turn, making the cavalry extremely far reaching.

Last nightís map was a trickier one. There was a large central lake and we had to fight around the sides,...

The Last Great Scape Hunt

Posted June 9th, 2012 at 07:19 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
Well I have found another job but itís kind of sucky. Itís more hours for less pay- not exactly ideal, but at least there will be food on the table.

In preparation (my first day of work is next Monday) I have been examining my budget. Obviously some things are going to have to go, and one of the frills is Scape hunting.

I certainly enjoyed perusing Scape while it was in the stores and even after it was discontinued it has been fun chasing it down- making offers, swaps and yard sailing yard sales. But I guess thatís done now.

How many times have I asked myself ďdo we really need more?Ē I have noticed a lot more for sale lately, but it is starter stuff- RotV, SofM and castles. And they go for next to nothing because no serious collector or player needs them and there just arenít very many new folks getting into it.

My kids and I have been trying to make more intelligent decisions about purchasing previously loved Scape. My kids...

Heroscape afterlife strategy Update

Posted June 7th, 2012 at 04:10 PM by NamibianScaper
Shortly after the demise of official hasbroscape, I posted a Heroscape afterlife strategy on this blog.

We got our stuff back from Namibia in May 2011, whoohoo.

I bought up a lot of what I needed except for everything I listed in that post, the expensive stuff. Still sad and I see prices are not going in the right direction.

I did NOT stick to ignoring D&D. Best decision I made. The D&D stuff is great. Rather, I merely have ignored Valkrill. The Undead Zombies and Vampires are already banned from our version of the Heroscape world and we just did away with that whole general. No redeeming figures in the whole thing. Fun to destroy but not fun for anyone to play. That's how I feel anyway.

In addition to buying up cheap figures I needed + D&D stuff, I started getting into customs too. Time is of the essence, but if I have it I'll probably post reviews of the customs we get like I used to do with our monthly releases....
