First blog! I've been waiting to post one with something not too "everyday" normal. So...

I went to the oral surgeon after school today so the dentist could check out how my wisdom teeth are coming along. The top two are starting to poke through, can't feel the bottom ones yet. The dentists explained how the procedure will go, saying I'll only be there about 60 minutes total. That makes me feel a little better, I suppose.

I'm still a bit worried though. I'm squeemish (spl?), and the last surgery I've had was when I was four years old. I opted to have the nitrus oxide and go to sleep during the operation. I'll have to fast for at least 6 hours before getting gased, which won't be a problem, as I'll most likely have it in the morning. Plus I lose my appetite when nervous. I'm more worried about any complications (not very possible - I have excellent luck with health), and the fact that I need to sleep on my back at a 45* angle. I prefer to sleep on my stomache on the floor at a level angle.

Although, the plus side of this will be having all the yogurt, ice cream, popsicles, and pudding I want. Not to mention the couch time with TV, and my mom at my beck and call.

So, only about 2-5 weeks until I need the teeth out. Hopefully I'll make my peace with it.

Oral surgery is not as bad as it sounds. If you keep up on your pain meds then you can sleep through most of it. When I had mine (teeth were coming in through the roof of mouth) I spent nearly a week in bed, which wasn't bad at all. I wouldn't do it again, but it wasn't the torture I was expecting.

Thanks for the comfort. I'm already feeling better since posting my dilemma.

You're doing exactly the right thing! I suggest also getting perscriptions for pain meds (if not the painkillers themselves) for later on following the surgery.

However, it has gotten to be a much better deal than it used to be! Older generations had to really suffer!

Well, my mom made the appointment today. June 10th is the day my teeth will be pulled. The first day of summer vacation. Oh well, I'd rather have it as soon as possible.

I've decided my dentist might be a little greedy. My wisdom teeth have come in perfectly- all the right angles, not interferring with the other teeths' alignments, all have relatively enough space. He insists they should come out, but he can't really give me a reason.

Well, they've been out for about 1.5 hours. It's hard to eat when your mouth is numb.
